#DOAG . Death of a Game is a series dedicated to uncovering the mysteries surrounding the death of a game or company. nerdSlayer defines the term "death" in the context of the show as either... 1. Literally dead. 2. Had a mass exodus of players and never recovered (expectations etc). 3. The company ceased to exist. We follow a timeline of events, to uncover clues concerning why a game or company doesn't do well, and attempt to put it all together at the end for a deduction explaining how or why the game failed based on the evidence gathered.

4: Any points you make have to be substantiated either in explaining your opinion or when stating facts you need to back these up with reliable sources.

This game is absolute garbage, and I really wanted to like it. P2W, cluttered interface, auto questing & battle, horrid pet upgrade system, multiple pointless currencies, braindead progression, I can go on.

This. Game is super streamlined/simplified. Basically plays for itself. It's a generic gacha that pushes absurd monetization on you every second. And it's very P2W as you're constantly having to compete with people who have spent much more money than you.

I'm very sorry you had to find this game, i don't mean to be mean, is just a bad game, excesively predatory gacha praticeses that allow for whale behavior, servers have LVL cap, exp/drop capped at 1.50 h at day. Is not a game , is a gaming simulator with autoplay where you can sink your money into.

This entire video (and your comments here) are basically you tiptoeing around any criticism. The few things that one could say are pros, such as graphics and revised gameplay, were already done in RO: Eternal Love. Grab that bag, king - but stop pretending you're not a sellout giving an extremely biased review here.

@@doctorblaze I've played both games for (about six months in each without paying) as well as the original. Both games P2W, but Origins in terms of gameplay and graphics is much closer to the original RO than Eternal Love. For players who do not invest money, this one gives more opportunities to achieve something without spending 24/7 in the game. But yes, both games are mobile, and all mobile MMORPGs are P2W.

This game is banned here in the Netherlands, only games with predatory MTX without publicly available drop chance percentages get banned.. Just an easy way to avoid awful games and devs I suppose 🤷🏼‍♂️

Gravity will never stop milking Ragnarok's IP. I haven't tested it yet, but I'm so put off by the amount of P2W, Autoquesting mechanics, multiple currency systems, and the overall UI that is soo horribly clunky and cluttered.

thought it was about origins ro, the pserver. that was my server, played for two years. Had never played before, fell in love with the game, learned so much, so so much, that i managed to become an actual player of the game, found a great guild, learned even more top tier strategies and... how do i put this.. a tear is coming down my cheek, im not one to cry easily at all. But, idk, hits hard. I just know that, if the option is there, i will play ro again when im retired. May we meet again, my old ro friends.

It's designed to be set to auto-play, most Asian mobile MMO's are. Everything is designed with that in mind, manual play is basically a gimmick and awful to actually play that way.

My Favorite RI story about the game was when it was still P2P game. I was learning the game, met another swordsman on my journey, and they invited me to do Payon Dungeon. We got lost we were continously running out we didn't entirely wanted to die in there, then out of nowhere a Crusader came in and helped us. He saw us struggling, chatted with us, helped us around the map, healed us show us the next floor, etc. In the end, of it, while it wasn't much, I thought he was cool, he asked us what we were aiming for and told him that he inspired me to be a crusader. He laughed, and did something I wasn't expecting, he gave me like a +6 shield with stat bonuses and such, way higher then my level. He told me good luck and hoped to see me grow into that shield. He left before I could actually really friend the guy, but if it wasn't for that guy, I think I would be a very Toxic MMO player. He inspried me to be a player who wants to help and make every new player feel welcomed and especially made me like Paladin style classes even more. I feel sad that because of how mmos changed that interactions like these are far less likely to happen. Which still leads to ROO, I not much into Mobile gaming and even though I may have nostalgia for RO, I don't see myself feeling like I be back in the community. And with how Gravity reacts to Private Servers without any real help to fix theirs. I am more or less skeptical of trying another new project when many have failed before.

I think those paytowin mobile auto games will bring negative comments. I recommend Albion Online as a sponsor, they are launching an EU server soon. Rather play Diablo Immortal than Ragnarok Origins, at least that game is not auto play.

Played the original, it was my first MMORPG experience. Only played the two week open beta for free, loved it but back then I didn't have a creditcard so it ended for me after the beta ended. Was a acolyte selling portals to cities, made some good money with it. I miss MMO's doing that stuff, giving classes specific skills they can use to do other things the only combat. Never cared for the newer version of RO, they just didn't had the same feel to it. Also still thinking the 2d characters in a old school 3d world look great and added to the whole feel of the original game.

I've played both games, they are nothing alike, apart from the universe and classic features of mobile games (P2W, gacha, autoquesting, etc.). In terms of mechanics and endgame gameplay, they are completely different projects. If we compare these 2 projects, then Origin is 'closer' to the original.

Great video as always. Now speaking about the game. It saddens me to see the ways of this franchise, being an OG KR player before even iRo came to exist. Was there, seen al the evolution, and the franchise just falled over time. Failing to properly update to the new game tendencies on mechanics and even slighty graphical even tho having a sweet unique and beautiful art style.

Already Dead in Korea, Japan and NA LMAO. and in Coming soon in TW server. why? just see their players number. Global toooooo actually. Not even 1 year old, many players have already left behind. they are nothing in ROM, even 5 years still existing in TW and global. Moreover, if a new server ROM with the latest mechanical system comes out, I am very sure that ROO will be increasingly abandoned by players

Speaking of mobile games It feels like someday I'll be seeing Genshin on this channel. 💀 I love Ragnarok Online (Gravity) way back in 2000s but Ragnarok games like this are so terrible for cashing in to long lost IP, they probably knew they can't make an original IP. No Ragnarok "remake" could replicate the success of Original Ragnarok.

I will say (and please nobody take this as a recommendation) I tried this game when it was new and while it was pretty dull, group content wasn't. It wasn't autoplay, there were mechanics, as a healer I felt like I had to actually try to keep people alive and use abilities effectively. For a phone game that's more than I can say for most. It was just enough of feeling like a real game to get me to keep playing for a few weeks in bed before not wanting to deal with how it handles questing and progression and forgetting it exists. But it kind of reminded me of a lot of games in the MMO gold rush era where they were ass out loud, with a nugget of something fun buried deep in there like one of the devs actually wanted to make a good game despite corporate mandates. Funnily enough, it's how I felt about Ragnarok Online 2.

RO can still be a good game in a way of copying other successful MMORPG like Albion Online 1. Using new game engine to improve gameplay, the old directX engine is pure garbage 2. Using a good server to maintain 200pax War of Emperium (like what Albion has in ZvZ , territory war, small scale fight) 3. Constantly balancing the game economics and skills cooldown, instead of P2W, the game used to be so fun when its not P2W, but win out of effort grinded Instead of keep duplicating one mobile RO and rename it into another mobile RO, auto questing all the way to max level, ridiculous stats and damage. Please appreciate the irreplaceable nostalgic advantage of RO, wake up Gravity!! 1. the music!! and sound when hitting and casting skill 2. the joy of raiding challenging boss together (with tanks, priests, supports and multiple dps) 3. the joy of difficult job change quest 4. the joy of conquering in WOE 5. the joy of PVP where u purposely invested a PVP set gear 6. the joy of getting buff from different classes 7. the joy of hunting cards and rare gears from 200+ different mobs 8. the joy of flexing your rare headgear in town Gravity u have so much more to learn and revamp the entire RO if u want to revive it, definitely not by RO mobile

Ok, 90% people will say bad thing about this game But im f2p from the moment this game open until now Yes the game is P2W, for competitive person you wont like this game because you hate losing But the PVE side of ROO is interestingly fun, i myself is PVE based person, And interestingly enough, they give much accsess for f2p to catch up the P2w, nowadays you can get more free stuff just by attending guild event, Im still f2p to these day and i can say in this game you can actually match strenght with middle and low whaler, but you still lose to big whales, and thats fine with me ROO is still fun to me regardless of the hate, the developer care about the f2p greatly, dont worries!

I made 2 accounts to really compare the game cause I used to love RO so much. I have a paid knight account and a f2p priest account and i am having way more fun with my priest and haven't had to pay any to get 2(!) different builds running on it (FS and Battle Priest). The only part I felt mandatory to do was to refine my gear but even that you dont need to spend any money since the gameplay loop gives you enough to get at least +7 on your gear. I play in the NA server and base level is capped and its honestly the worst part having to come back daily to level my. Character. Is it obvious how the game want you to spend money? Yes. Lots of pop ups about cash purchases. But I've never felt like I was behind on gear or cards.

I am a veteran player of Ragnarok Online from 20 years ago. I have tested this game and redeemed your Code because of this video. 😶😑 This game combines the worst things, from the last decades of milking players, of mobile games and online rpgs. The aggressive layers of monetarization and forced way to keep you playing are insane! I could critize the confusing and overloaded UI, or the way you have to control everything, even the way they have streamlined the game to make it more accessible is debateable. I can work with that! The saddest thing is, they have managed to capture the spirit of Ragnarok so well! The atmosphere is there. You recognise the love for the franchise from the creators. The graphic is gorgeous: World-Design, cities, monster, the characters are well done and their outfits and cute animated headgears are absolutely stunning. You can see everything in clear first person perspective if you want (!!) even use the old view from above if you like! That's how I always wanted it to be! Why is all this destroyed because of so much greed!!? 1) The worst thing ever is a LIMIT OF EXP AND LOOT per day by grinding... ( 2,30 hours) The problem here is, you have to max out your exp/loot gain in this time. Casual Game? Socialization? NO PRESSURE! In the old days you could chat with others and play in your own speed, even solo, all the time. 2) You have multiple premium currencies. Gatcha Cash Shops in every corner: you have to gamble for cards, forging, headgears, pets, outfits everything that was fun in RO. In this version you NEED it, because everything boosts yours stats, these are no cute things only for looks. The normal process to get these things is crazy slow and near impossible, because even if you grind you have to buy premium currency for the better stuff too. 3) FORCE to keep the gamer playing on another day. There are so many "rewards" for everything, especially the first time to hook you up. Everything is tied up on Daily quests! 3.5)BATTLEPASS They are not ashamed to include this also.. It is such a pity, disgusting and heartbreaking! 💔

This game is almost the most perfect mobile version But, yes... as always, the P2W system destroys the game Bullshit pet system (P2W), too much daily event (feels like working a job), unbalanced pvp because P2W and lastly, you can buy EVERYTHING from the shop (P2W again) I don't mind the streamlined version of RO, but this is very disrespectful to the original game.

It's the third in Gravity's mobile MMO's that attempt to reboot the franchise, they're all incredibly predatory, awfully designed, and basically made for whales to spend cash on. They heavily feature auto-play and are unplayable manually (no map markers for where to go / who to talk to - because the auto play walks you there, talks to them, goes to the monsters, does the combat for you etc.)

They must have paid a lot to justify such a grossly charitable review of these god awful mobile reboots. First RO: M Eternal Love, then RO: X Next Generation and now RO: Origins. All using the same engine, slightly different rendering settings, maps, and UI. The 'story' is some of the worst written filler even by anime standards (Birds attacked the sign! You need to go fight the birds and collect the wood so we can repair the sign!). The games are incredibly simplistic and minimal auto-play, auto-grind, transaction focused mobile apps wearing the skin of Ragnarok. It's everything you'd expect from gravity, another cheap lazy ploy to recycle the look of Ragnarok without putting any effort into the substance. If you've played ROM or ROX you already know what you're in for - everyone else just know its the same god awful cash grab trash we've come to expect from gravity desperate to relive the hype of the past they repeatedly self-sabotaged.

RO Origin are the most trash, garbage, dumb RO franchise ever i seen in my life and the second are RO Next generation. both of them them are full of shit, P2W, ton of daily, ton of cash power fitures, i don''t what poeples looking for when they still playing this dumb game hahahaha......... for RO, RO PC still the best.
