I Love Rahsaan Patterson and all of his music. This Brother is gifted has a unique style and he stand in a class all by himself. He truly a gifted music Artist.
This is the original version of "I'll Go." Donell Jones' version was made later, specifically for the "Love & Basketball" soundtrack. This song was never officially released on any Rahsaan Patterson album. It was first released commercially on the compilation album "SoulTogetherness2001."
I was today years old when I found out he did this song. I had the pleasure of seeing him live tonight at his NYC show. He was amazing. We sang along with him. It was a beautiful time.
Funny you said that because I'm a musician and I looked him up because I could hear her vocal runs allover this song. I had never heard him before this. And i love Chaka to death. I was so curious. Then I realized I had a CD sampler of this guy some sixteen years ago that I loved.
I never get tired of listening to this song---Rahsaan's voice is a unique instrument full of soul! And he's just as perfect live. Go see him whenever you can; he doesn't disappoint.
Kudos to Donell Jones. If I'm not mistaken, Rahsaan Patterson is the writer and this is the original version...simply beautifully done and executed! Should hear Rahsaan Patterson sing it live...WOW!
Ummmm. AMAZINGLY FUNKY MASTERPIECE! Keep writing on Rahsaan Patterson and Steve Hurley... 'Will always Glide where you Glide, Rahsaan... Thanks Steve, Donnell Jones, and Rahsaan for your musical gift of love to us. Kiss, Kiss.
just heard this at the end of the movie "above the rim" song by someone name Donnell something, but written by Rahsaan... that was enough for me.... I'll Go....Love it
TheKoolkanadian I must ask forgiveness...the movie was actually "Love and Basketball." And you're also correct... It is Donnell Jones. Fortunately, I have friends who are knowledgeable.
Totally agree! Both are dope. However, Rahsaan Patterson definitely but the stank on it. Wherever I'm at and hear this song I have to dance. Seriously!!
Listening to this song every morning, before I I start my day. 😃🌟😍😎This song makes me so happy and feel so alive . I’m waiting for that special man to come into my life so I can send it to him 😉
Well slap me around and call me Suzy 😱😱😱😱 I didn't know he did this song! This is one of my favorite songs from the Love and basketball soundtrack. I love Donell's version. This will take some getting used to for me, but I'm loving his improvisation on here! Adds more soul.
Larry Frank It's because the song was co-written, & co-produced by Patterson and Steve "Silk" Hurley, though never officially released on any of Patterson's album. It's "his baby". 😀 Though admittedly some songwriters would be better served never singing their own creations at all. But Rahsaan is MEGA Talented! The general public can't even receive RP on his high level of Artistry, which is what often happens with The Bright Ones who fall through the cracks of promotion and marketing. Music BUSINESS! 😞💰~K @SoulKirk
