WOW I'm in this video! It was my first professional job as a dancer in NYC. I skipped class at Alvin Ailey for the day because they wouldn't give me the time off lol! It was a wonderful experience and I've always loved this song and also you, Rahsaan. Thank you always!!😍😍
I AGREE WITH YOU GUYS. AMIDST ALL OF THE AUTO-TUNED TRACKS THAT ARE OUT THESE DAYS IT IS SUCH A BLESSING TO HEAR A MAN WITH "TRUE" TALENT. WHEN RAHSAAN CAME UPON THE SCENE IN 1996, HE WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR MUCH LIKE WHEN PRINCE CAME UPON THE SCENE IN 1978. I AM KIND OF GLASD THAT HE IS UNDERRATED BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE HE "BELONGS" TO US THAT LOVE TRUE MUSIC AND NOT TO THOSE THAT HAVE TO OVERPRODUCE A TRACK SO THAT THEIR ARTIST CAN SOUND DECENT. I GIVE YOU THE ULTIMATE PROPS RAHSAAN!
Been a fan of his since the days of Kids Incorporated. 🥰 His voice is incredible, his style impeccable. 🔥 He just gets better and better with time. This whole album was and still is fire. Timeless. Respect, Mr. Patterson. ❤️
"The sunshine's much brighter.....". He Chaka/Stevie-ed out there. Remember watching this video thinking, 'what a talented brother', and back in 1997, we researched hard, opening the cd cases to find out the musicians and songwriters, and I found out that it was him and much the same team all over Brandy's debut and Tevin Campbell's Back To The World album (heavily underrated that). Been a fan ever since. Quality, sadly lacking these days, so we savour these reminisces.
Great song, love this rhythm and makes you head bop and dance! Thanks for sharing, posting @ RahsaanPatterson, Still listening, viewing. 11/27/2023 💖It....
Soulful brotha I somehow missed! I was just watching a video called “What Happened to Aaliyah?” and they showed a magazine cover (“Blues &...?) she was on. I paused to read to other artists on cover: Lucy Pearl and “Rahsaan Patterson: Underground Hero”. Such a funky groove, his voice reminds me of Raphael Saddiq. We were so spoiled with greatness in the 90s; even our forgotten and sadly overlooked artists were way better than most of the chart toppers of today. It’s not just nostalgia; the deep soul and musicality was connected to a different era of humanity.
I just turned 55 in February already knew his brother going to be bad and it came out in 97 he had too many songs they are number one hits everybody need to recognize you need a Grammy
I was half sleep when I first heard this song back in the day I called the radio station and found out who he was and bought his cd And Whew this brother is what music is about I'd love for him to collaborate with Raphael Saadiq and Stokley whew Chile
OMG! I can't beleive I found this song after 14 years!!! Yes, I heard this song and saw this video 14 years ago, and FELL absolutely in LOVE with Rahsaan Patterson, and this song. Then I never heard it again, Man, this brings back soooo many memories!!!
THIS! THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE DEFINITION TO REAL R & B, AND IT SETS THE TABLE FOR OTHERS TO FEAST ON MUSIC WITH SUBTANCE, MELODY, A FUNKY GROOVE AND A RHYTHM THATS UNSTOPPOBLE. I'M JUST SAY'N!
I recall seeing this song, when he FIRST dropped the video: ...I went and copped it, as SOON AS I was back and the record store (dating myself*lmaoo*...I MISS those...!!). Continue to make GREAT tunes, brother. Salute, Rahsaan Patterson :0). PS--This video always made me wish I was outside listening to this, when you were performing inside the glass*lmaoo*. I use to be in the living room, PARTYIN'...!!
