Watcht 'Raiders of the Lost Art - Episode1: Hitler's Art Dealer' here: • Raiders of the Lost Ar...
In the 1960s, archaeologists working in China made an extraordinary discovery. They unsealed the twelve-hundred-year-old tomb of a princess. Its walls were covered in magnificent murals - an unprecedented glimpse into life during the Tang dynasty. This documentary tells the fascinating story of the great Empire that made those murals, of the Silk Road that connected it to the world, and of the rebellions and disasters that brought the dynasty crashing down.

We’re in China today. The Tang Dynasty. The only tang I knew was that powered orange juice. So this documentary was an eye-opener for me. Loved it. It only took 30+ years for me to finally find out that there was wine in early Chinese society... And I found out watching a modern wushu flick like yesterday lol...I saw them drink it in a scene and didn't think it was historically accurate until...well, until today after watching this... I've seen a thousand kung Fu flicks and not once do I recall ever even the sight of red wine... Growing up and in ceremonies all I've ever seen and heard that was a cultural staple was rice wine...beer is an obvious western influence from the modern age... Wtf... Can't believe I'm only finding this out concretely right now

you didn't see it before because the CCP was pretty strict on many aspects of culture representation. as the CCP's legitimacy became more solid, it slowly relaxed their rules and China/media is able to more freely express the many aspects of Chinese culture. btw was the movie 14 blades with donnie yen? i just rewatched it xD

I've never understood why they haven't opened the big one the terra cotta army is guarding. I don't buy the Mercury excuse. I had a Chinese friend that said it was about disturbing the Feng Shiu of their ancestors. That's pretty thin. Based on what was said here there's no reason to believe the tomb hasn't been emptied in antiquity and its murals are flaking off the walls while they delay. 1974 was a long time ago.

Fang Shui is hogwash. i speculate they have to deal with what they have on hand with the personnel they have before they venture further.

How fascinating and important for Chinese history and indeed the world. Whenever I discover a stone axe head or arrow head here on our farm in north America, I think of a history of thousands of years of natives, which will never be known. Art, history of leaders and dynasties, items of pottery etc...national treasures to China. How wonderful.

It's just modern day grave robbing. No different than in the old times. Desiccate someone's resting place and put them and their belongings on display for the public to see. Charge $$$ to see it.
