Running gear reminds me of the GEC/ALSTHOM Eurostar sets in Europe, but without the airbag suspension. Coil springs and dampers give just as good a ride and are easier to maintain than an air system. Don't understand why they are still using Victorian - era side buffers and those chain couplers. It was the same on locos in the UK where I was on the railways ! EMU sets usually had automatic "buckeye" couplers of USA design. Of course it's all changed with the more modern builds.
Good job but i think our design is too heavy. With the advent of new materials the focus should change to make the coaches lighter and stronger. For example if you see the door of the coaches there is no reason why it should be made so heavy. Heavy coaches cause additional fuel consumption. Can someone please throw light on this? ,
Many of the coaches of our Mumbai local trains are still the same as they used to be 30- 40 years ago. What is the new Railway minister doing about it?
Still these coaches look so outdated compared to European, Japanese and Chinese railway. and these coaches are there only for premium trains. other express trains still have the rusted coaches from the '90s. also what's the use of having the capacity to run at 200 kmph when the average speed is just 80-90 kmph? if Indian railways has to be modernised it has to be made open to the private sector. otherwise in 2050 also we will have these metal boxes in the name of trains.

I am proud our Indian railways it's my opening is why do not a all train attached to music system that's way or passenger are comfortable journey and no booring. train trevling so I want to say plz attached a music system Thanks
it is superrrrrrrrrrrrrr. i loved it. india is proving its talent in railways. allthe best to RCF of indian railways. be a part of improvement of india. try to make more LHB coaches.
AC, closed sewer water systems, and double decker coaches are realy a step forward, the modern coaches now have a degree of comfort, but I asume this is all AC first class, because there are still wooden benches in one of these new meter gauge coaches, which must be 2S class. Even the most modern first class stock resembles the 1980-1990 European stock, the bogies for instance (LHB?) resemble the Fiat bogie design which was developed in the 1970's, but which is a very good design in itself. (used untill the late 1990's in Europe but developed in a more advaced design now, with radial steering axles) But it is understandable, that with the vast amount of new coaches needed every year and the huge amount of passengers, there's no room to use the latest technoligy or to have a European level of comfort for all passengers (where it is standard to have seats for all passengers except on busy commuter lines in rush hour)
+dieselmupke its really tough to compete with European standards especially when the population is so high as compared to European countries and the railway network is so vast despite these challenges gotta give it to the Indian Railways they've managed to build a really commendable and reliable network of railways today
That's a point. Although railways in for instance the Netherlands have a network density equal or even greater than IR, as does the frequency of the trains, the total size of the network and the passenger numbers in the urban area's are not comparable, also the income per passenger shows a huge difference, as fares as high as in the Netherlands would allow only a very small number of people in India to use the train, so fares have to be relatively low in India. Greatest accomplishment of IR is the improvement in safety and reliability, as you say, here in the west India was in the news regularly 20-30 years ago for large railway accidents, but not mow anymore.
dieselmupke agreed and now with deals being signed with the likes of Alstom they're working on safer and faster coaches for passenger trains which is a good step forward
Now train have lhfied they are more durable made with aluminium don't think congo, Ethiopia train have AC , comfortable seats, toilets and comfort as Indian Railways.
Green toilets are not good because the toilets are not cleaned at stations and the gas come out of the toilet which very bad smell which effect the people who travel in train an modi says green India which is not good for train and who travels by trains an there is no good food in trains if there food which is not good for health . the tank which is kept in the compartment down it should bee cleaned time to time once its full it should bee cleaned because of that the gas come out of the toilets an no one go sit in the toilet for any purpose so kindly please seen on that soo people can travel eco friendly or if it not done then people will get seek .
Impressive. If India is making train coach very well than, It will be better to make coaches of bullet train in India instead of bringing the coaches from China or Japan.
