On day three of our Vermont railfanning trip, we started out catching Amtrak's Ethan Allen at Fair Haven and Center Rutland. Then we headed over the mountain and set up at the Bartonsville Covered Bridge to catch The Green Mountain Flier pulled by VRS's RS-1 #405, followed by Train 264, the freight between Bellows Falls and Rutland. At the end of the day, we headed over to Whitehall, NY to catch the D&H local going to Crown Point to service the International Paper Mill, with one of the D&H lightening stripes leading. Enjoy!

TWO 70 MAC, on a 12 car train? Or was the return really heavy? Just goes to prove newer, more technologically advanced isnt always better...

I didn’t see the picture eastbound Tran but it is usually pretty heavy with loaded slurry cars. Through the years I’ve always thought the VTR over powers their trains.
