Last leg of the move. St Thomas To Salford Shop
Ontario Southland Railway had serviced the Guelph Junction Railway in Guelph Ontario for 22 years but the City of Guelph put it out to tender this year . Genesse & Wyoming was the winning bid so it it now serviced by Goderich & Exeter Railway. (GEXR)
This required the move of 8 locomotives and a couple of other cars from Guelph Ontario to their home shop in Salford Ontario.
CN was handed the task and after sitting on a siding in Guelph for almost 4 weeks they were moved from Guelph but only got as far as Kitchener on the first try. This was the move from Kitchener to London Ontario a few days later. CN will then move them to St Thomas Ontario where they will be handed over to OSR and moved to Salford Ontario. Some will be put into service on the 3 jobs they run out of there and some will be stored on site.
CN 568 did the move with a pair of GP9's CN 4028 & CN 4116
