VIA 85 with VIA 6438 showed up in London Ontario with 3 RDC's # 6251 # 6208 and # 6105. They will start testing to Sarnia, no idea when service will start.
We need the old Budd Cars back in service, I used to take the Budd Car from Union Stn to Douglas point and back every day, it was the quick and easy way
The RDC is such an excellent unit. They were specifically designed to function in areas of light traffic, thus more than ever they are indispensable. The big question lingers: will they be able to handle Canadian weather? Only time will tell, but this seems like an excellent future.
the RDCs were used extensively in Ontario and the Maritimes and on the West coast in British Columbia since the 1950's. They are not new to Canada in any way, and have in fact lasted longer in Canada than they did in the USA.
I recall as a kid in the ‘70’s standing up front with the engineer slamming through snowdrifts made by the road plows on the way to Owen Sound. WUMMP! And riding the last (?) Budd on the Havelock Sub (‘87?) The crew dropped us off where the Leaside station was and we walked home from there.
