UPDATE 02/02/2015: A westbound BNSF led train of crude oil struck a U Haul van at this crossing. Very minor cosmetic damage was reported to the locomotive. The van only suffered front-driver's side damage. Unknown if there were any injuries. The train was held up for 45 minutes. At the same time this was taking place on track two, another train at nearly the same milepost on track one was broke down, thus tying up rail traffic on this very busy line.
To add to the situation, the first train advised they had to find a place and park until the tracks could be cleared, wound up receiving two defect detections and faced a 30 M.P.H. restriction.
Walnut Street is a residential street in Anderson, Indiana. There is a park adjacent to the crossing. This crossing is right in the middle of an 'S' curve, thus the crossing signals being placed on the left side of the street for better view. This crossing still features the vintage cantilevers.
