I adore the classic games - Railroad Tycoon 2 and RRT 3. I keep playing them to this day. Unfortunately no modern games can match those two classic games in terms of scale, economic strategy, customizations, user created maps, huge variety of trains and a challenge that AI competitors provide. Railroad tycoon 2 and 3 had trains from the 1830s to modern trains after the year 2000! They had Steam, Diesel, Electric trains. And these games were released in 1999 and 2003! Unfortunately both Railway Empire and Railroad Corporation falls short here.

I agree. Railway Empire absolutely needed a freight diesel and some electric engines.

The whistles actually sound different in some trains when it is running on your railroad route.

The only thing keeping from buy this game is that it's almost exclusively old-western style steam locomotives... if they had locomotives from every era of railroad history, then I'd be sold. My favorites are Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 J-Type No. 611 and the Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 "Blackjack" No. 4935.

I would like a train pack with trains from the 1950s - 1990s eg all pacers class 141-144 Sprinters 150-158 HST Class 101 class 37 class 45 class 47 class 20 class 31 lots of trains from Britain I don't know that many for the other countries.

I really hope they add trains like the Intercity 125, TGV, Pendolino, Bullet train, etc. Obviously some of them will be some separate DLC with different areas(UK and Ireland, Europe, etc.).

I think this game is based on USA so the closest would be Amtrak Acela. Europe as a dlc would be interesting tho. Also if you are looking for those types of trains i recommend the game Transport Fever 2

Hopefully they'll put in some heavy weights like that Allegheny 2666 or Big Boy 4884 and even the Southern Pacific Cab forwards 4882.

I was interested in this game until seeing this informative video in which I see there is only one diesel. I want more modern stuff. Not too into the old stuff

I accept that but I'm really into steam engines they just have more magic in them that diesel engines lack in my opinion

You’re half right, John Bull as originally shipped to America was a 0-4-0 as shown in game, but it derailed often as the US tracks were less refined than the rails of it’s native England, and the drivers would get sunburnt without a cab, so a cab and a set of leading wheels were added to the locomotive, which created the John Bull we know and love today, which is mislabelled in game as North America.
