Maybe the local station CCTV will have captured a better or closer view of this character. It looked like he avoided going along the platform though because on his exit he appears to have squeezed past the fencing to get out. I hope that the British Transport Police (BTP) can be arsed to check the station CCTV, although I doubt it. Meh ! Thanks Neil for highlighting the issue of trespass in the railways.
My nephew used to up to a few months ago work doing the ct cameras in Birmingham and travelling around the network he told me as he had to view the footage of some of the fatalities on the rail network and near misses was frightening he left to go somewhere else as it was getting to him
It looks as though he has positioned himself centrally to take best advantage of that particular beach cam recording. He’s probably watching these comments coming on right now….
I was up at the Warren this morning at that time and saw the sleeper come through. I happened to notice a car coming and going this morning in the car park. Don’t know what’s going on lately, but some right little toe rags about. Needs a police presence about again !
I don’t think we’ll ever know what was going through his mind when he did this. Hopefully someone spots him and phones the police. Great work for getting this out. Hopefully it never happens again.
I'm sure the video will be on facebook or insta somewhere. We can never know what made him do this... he's just lucky he survived. I feel sorry for the train driver, who probably called that in to BTP
Those safety lights went off about 10s before the train arrived,, and came back on about 5s after it passed. Are they automated, to help preserve the driver's night vision maybe?
The safety lights are to indicate that a train is coming for the barrel crossing. They are fully automated, and have been for decades. The reason they switch off when a train is approaching is a fail-safe so that if they aren't working, one assumes a train is coming, If they turned on when a train was approaching and the lamps have blown, well, You can imagine what could happen.
Some people seem to lose the brain they were born with, a shame the police were a bit late but with the tunnels on that section it would have been a few minutes before the driver had a decent RT signal. Just as well it is not an 100mph section.
I think the BTP need to use this sort of footage to show the dangers of the railways to kids why its dangerous to trespass etc would make an education film about it with this footage i wouldn't be surprised if the Sleeper train driver reported the incident as well.
With all the technology..webcams and such that has been applied, why has no-one come up with the idea to build better fencing that makes it more difficult to access the track? Surely it would be better to use this visual information to prevent people accessing illegally. After all this railway is being ,or has been upgraded.
Nutters. With low self esteem no doubt. Question: during daylight hours I’ve seen other people cross the tracks on the Live cam from platform to platform via that ‘walkway’ at the platform ends. Is that allowed?
@@CoastCams247 cool. Thought it might have been workers on the sea wall and some special access. I know here in Australia we sometimes have platform end crossings at rural stations but our train traffic often is both slower and less often. I love watching the live cam as I’m British but living in Melbourne and it reminds me of home.
@@CoastCams247 Are they really? What took them so long? As I understand it, not providing adequate access for the disabled is illegal, so shouldn't they have done it yonks ago?
I live in a rural market town, the local skate park is drugs central. Problem is, if the police target it there, then it will move elsewhere in the town and that is when people who are not involved in the trade get caught up in the cr@p that they do.
