A long car trip to Warrington 11/08/95 was rewarded with plenty of rail traffic particularly class31s (the reason for my journey) , which were working in the their last stronghold in the North West.
Hard to believe that was 20 years ago, and it makes an interesting comparison with today's traffic at WBQ which I've filmed, excellent production and vintage traction! Thanks for sharing it! Regards. Ken
Thanks Ken,thanks for your kind words and comments, yes how times change,I have a couple more series of clips at Warrington not long after this set,and already the 31s had disappeared. Thanks again
Brian, What an excellent trip down memory lane this is, I was about 9 years old when this was filmed but what memories it brings back. Loco hauled freight and passenger trains just aren't the same anymore. I can't wait to see what else you still have hidden in the archives. Thank you so much for sharing this nostalgia with us. Duane.
Duane Crossland Thanks Duane , for commenting on the video ,it makes a big difference to me when people give favorable comments ,yes i have a few more up my sleeve ..watch this space.
yeh, seemed to be an Excellent place indeed back then...with a variety of just about anything... & yeh, appeared it was a great location for 31 's..which happen to be one of my favorites too..!!! _ Loved the 31 with lust " ONE " Roundie.....at 30:03..thats well cool...btw .."Roundie's" always being my fav' freight..they look great.. ' specially long ones..but the " ONE - ie" one with the 31was well good...would have liked to have seen that myself...!!!. ..Great video indeed mate..Thanks yeh :)
I think this is one of the best Vintage BR videos I've seen. What a lot of action there was. Those 31s didn't really look their age did they, the Civil Engineers livery quite suited them.
until the advent of a time machine, excellent videos such as this will be superb research material as well as entertainment and a reminder of happier times out on the railways,
Hi Richard, Thank you for your kind comments, yes there is a lot of good stuff out there. I still have hours of video to put out ,just a case of getting round to it . Keep checking Regards Brian
To think that all this would change so quickly in the next few years was unthinkable as privatisation was on the horizon, being a Warrington driver the time it was the best job in the world and so glad it's been captured for posterity.
