This is pitched a half-step higher than written. Perhaps the pitch was raised electronically rather than performed in a different key and the transposition makes it sound brighter.
U know, ive seen several videos (Votre Toast's) from this very same film, and some of them are, as you say, half step pitched, but others not. Anyways, all of 'em sound great. Thanks for you answer!

It's too bad Rosi made everyone look like they've been bathing in dirt and hit with ugly sticks daily. He totally forgot he was doing a film version of an Opera, not the Prosper Mérimée story the opera was based on. What he made Migenes-Johnson do in the bedroom scene was revolting. But, this scene looks like an exception to the otherwise willful misuse of all the opera talent. Mil gracias por compartir.
