This is my entry for the #YTCCC2021-03. This month’s theme is water. Really? Water? There have been a number of excellent entries already. This was my first thought but I may work on another idea or two of time allows.
This video is for entertainment only, not education. The techniques I use are mine. You try these things at your own risk. If anything o do doesn’t feel safe, DON’T DO IT!
In this video I used:
Sorby 1/2” bowl gouge
Hamlet 1” skew
Wood River 1/4” skew
Wood River mini parting tool
White Rhyno sand paper
Shop made sanding paste
Yorkshire Grit micro-fine abrasive paste
Hampshire Sheen High-Gloss wax
Deft lacquer sanding sealer
Spray paints and lacquer

Oh Doug I love this gorgeous Bowl! Love how you created the water drops. Rather it be spray paint or colored resin / epoxy I simply adore beautiful wood with those! One thing I haven't seen any woodturners do and would love to. I use them in some of my artwork small jewelry pendants etc./nail mani's. Is some of the interference colors from colourarte. They play very nice in resin. And the colors shift sometimes holographic depending on the one you use makes stunning outcome. So that's my suggestion of a piece I'd like to see. If of course you're taking suggestions? Thanks for sharing! Again such a very cool bowl.💗

HI Doug that was a great demonstration. I like the bowl design and the water finish is a wonderful technique. I am also curious about your vacuum system for this chuck. I have a lathe which could use something like this Is your design? If not could you share a link.

Thank you Don. I believe I got the adapter from Packard Woodworks. It has been many years since I purchased it. As I remember, when you order it you state the thread size of your spindle and they send it to you with correct threads. You have to make it up from the adapter out.
