I went with my mum to see this film in the cinema, which was a 3 hour train ride away plus the journey home. I was 12 but was 5’11 so looked old enough to be allowed into a 15 certificate film….here in Scotland we had 15 and 18 certificates depending on content. Anyway, it was amazing and I always think of this film when I hear Iko Iko. I work with kids with complex needs and some are autistic, verbal and non-verbal. I have to say that Dustin’s portrayal was absolutely spot-on….he nailed it, as did Tom. He captured the frustration that folk who aren’t familiar with autism can experience.
I also would have been twelve when this came out, but never seen it. Love the song. My mum did take me to see Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan though :)
Incroyable performance de Dustin Hoffman dans ce role qui est prodigieux d ailleurs il as ut l oscar du meilleur second rôle pour ce film largement mérité
Superb Tom Cruise actor on this movie & The Last Samurai. Dustin Hoffman won the Oscar for his role play as Rain Man, very well deserved in my humble point of view. Fantastic movie.
I think it's supposed to be, "Jack-a-mo fi no na-na-ne Jack-a-mo fi na-ne" and its obscure French. "Fi no" could be similar to saying "fine" in French. The chorus starts "Hey now; Hey now; iko iko one day."
