Watching half an hour a guy sitting in a van cleaning pots and pans.......Strange, but very relaxing with the rain on the roof and also entertaining (as always) thank you for sharing this and have a great day.
I found your channel 2 weeks ago & now..I have my early AM coffee (every AM) watching your new & older videos. Enjoying the quiet, peaceful & inspiring vibes that radiate from your daily life as a van dweller. You share my mornings w/ a dozen squirrels (tree rats) that I feed raw peanuts to. Their antics make me smile...as do you!
Turning on that little salt lamp is like putting a warm filter on a photo...very nice effect for a rainy day😊 OK you're on pause for now. I need to make myself some coffee to watch the rest of the show. Back in a minute!
Hello Scott, Your passion for good coffee is endearing. I like it that hour salt lamp gives you such pleasure. I like subtle lighting too. It does create a welcoming ambience to your dwelling place. Your attached to the things that your using like your little skillet and the oil that you season hour pan with. A favorite skillet is the prerequisite for making most of your meals. There is not a trader joe's near me. When I run across one I do go there because I can find things there other stores don't have. I can tell you have worked in kitchens and you have a system to everything you do. I like routine too. Its like a low grade OCD but makes me really productive. Enjoyed your narrative and listing to the rain on your van roof. You look well and in control of your van life. There is a lot of howling wind on the east coast tonight too. Your kettle pot clesning and polishing turned out well! I like it that your include in your narrative where things are made and by whom. I'm glad you kept your kettle too. Be great!
2:44 - the salt lamps are actually supposed to use incandescent bulbs and not LEDs bc the heat activates the minerals in the lamp which supposedly helps cleanse the air. - I’ve read conflicting views as to weather they actually make any difference or not but I like mine either way.
@@StaticCamperVan very good watch, thank you. You actually simplified that really well, I saved it to my van-life-electrical playlist so when I am building my van out I can refer back to it.
I left cold Wisconsin to Arizona...and it has been raining the past couple days...nothing a nice hot cup of perked coffee can't fix. It's so much fun doing the van life! Oh yes...Happy Valentine's Day ♥️ to you! Cheers Scott! ☕
Cool branches.. Beautiful day for walk in Nature and you had a rain jacket. Nice. Luv ur salt lamp. That's how our familia for generations wash our cast iron pans (no soap😁) Great informative video
Good Morning my top 10 favorite things about living in my van is the sound of rain on my van roof. Recently we had 3 days of rain. The highlight was big drops for about 2hrs that were coming down hard. I was in my world. I fixed a corned beef special sandwich with some potato chips and a Ice cold glass of Pepsi. My entertainment was watching people run in the rain often getting splashed by passing cars. This is the life for dinner I heated some homemade soup had a slice of pizza and continued enjoying the rain drops on my van roof.
Scott --- what did you spritz on the coffee beans before you ground them? BTW - to make your cookies be soft again, put a little piece of bread in the package and seal them up. The bread will get hard and the cookies will be very soft!
Always admired your kettle...lovely and good polishing job. The rain is having its day this winter. Good to see your video this afternoon. Well wishes ~
Hi scott it's nice to see you get some house work done on a rainy day. Wish I could have saw you make that burger with cheese on sourdough bread it always looks so good. I hope you found a peaceful place to sleep for the night
You seasoning your pan reminds me I need to do that to my pan. Thanks. Loving the rain. We had rain snow mix last night and rain today. Have a good evening 😊
I once dated a guy who yelled at me for putting his cast iron pan in a little bit of soapy water. Needless to say he was a jerk! Glad to hear you say it is acceptable in some cases.😊
It totally is --- when they are very greasy or "baked on" and boiling some water in the pan won't work, I use hot, soapy water with a brush ... swish it around, then rinse and put it on a hot stove to dry ... then I like "Buzzwax" to season it.
Hey Scott...found Yellow Bird at Walmart. There are about three different flavors of Yellow Bird, what do you recommend? Never tried Yellow Bird...first time ! Can't wait ! 😁
I’d recommend buying it elsewhere. Like I mentioned when I bought Yellowbird at Walmart, the bottles are too small. My two favorites are the Serrano and Jalapeño.
I too bought cookies mine from Amazon and they were stale. I ate a couple and threw the rest away. Gourmet my behind, lol great to see you, Scott have a great evening.
❤ Good Evening 🌉🌆 Scott ! Its Raining there and in Ny. Its going to Snow ❄️🌨️ 1 am , till next Day! Up to 3 inches, hope their wrong with the weather ❄️🥶 Im right on the Snow Belt, but maybe we'll miss it And it will stay North🤞✌️👌👍🙌🙏💜✝️🇺🇸🤩🌅🌄🌻🌞
I like that you’re sharing the brands of coffee, maybe I’ll remember and recognize when I’m in Washington/Oregon this summer. Coffee in the morning is my main course 🙂.
Another couple of options to strip old seasoning off is to soak pan in vinegar, or even better, simmer a sacrificial can of tomatoes in it and the acidity will do the work.
I have that kettle, too and have had it for years. Still love it and agree it is a little piece of art that makes me happy every day when I make my pour over.
I knew you would get that weather sooner or later. Cali is getting blasted . My family live s in Orange County they have had so much rain. I don’t think it’s as bad where you are at.
I do love rain but from the vantage point of my cozy house. listening to it hit my metal roof is a comfort. I've been watching you for awhile but today was a first finding a current episode...hi there! Have you thought about getting a dog. Most van travelers seem to have one. I say that because I always have one who gives me incredible joy. I watch a lot of Scott Ritter and col McGregors take on wars we are embroiled in and should avoid. I love the Houthis helping the Palestinians in the red sea. I keep an eye on that almost every day. I often wonder why you don't come east a bit anyway. I dont drink coffee ... love the smell of it perking. Your voice is very comforting.... helps me sleep. I do catch most of what your up to before I nod off.
I love salt lamps! I have a few of them I just spotted in my storage in my old 5th wheel camper. Friends are staying down at my Old Homestead and there are cats there --- the salt lamps are said to be poisonous for cats so I'm just probably going to give my salt lamps away because with 2 dogs in my van they'll surely get broken.... but they're so soothing! When I was in acupuncture therapy, my doctor would turn the lights down low and have sounds of the ocean and she had salt lamps in the room it was very very relaxing.
I have realised that I need your calm and relaxing videos in my life. Unfollowed you a while ago. For no good reason, really. Probably because I THOUGHT I needed more action inspired content. Which turned out to be very wrong :) Now I'm back on track as a subscriber! Great content as always. Cheers from Sweden!
I think im gonna do egg Wraps this week for my lunch...im gonna do...eggs, mayo, salt, pepper, paprica, parsley, onions, bacon, spinich, yellow cheddar cheese...
So glad you got some coffee supplies! I was feeling a wee bit traumatized that you were running so low! (A bit like me with my strong tea...if I run down to a couple days' worth I get a little bit stressed!). I enjoy your rainy day chats. You are a pluviophile as I suspect many of us who enjoy your channel are.
You cleaned the Japanese kettle with a Japanese sponge! 😁 You always introduce me to things I’ve never heard of before: walnut scrubber pads; chainmail washcloths; Japanese dollar stores. 👍🏻
I've heard you say before that you like the rain. Welll, you got it. That's ironic because it's raining in southern WV right now, 2-12-24. Thumbs up!😎👍
Lol... I have had soooooo many people chew me out for using soap on my cast irons, over the years and it stung me a bit but I continued using the dreaded soap as always. My pans, my choice grumpy know it all's... lol Then FINALLY recently I bought some new cast irons and guess what...the manufacturer says go ahead and use soap if you want...it won't be a problem!!! SOOOOOOO HA HA HA GRUMPY''S!!! ❤😊
I’ve had cast iron for years. Never really took care of them. Worked great lol. I’m avoiding teflon and currently using stainless steel. Blink or look away and it burns everything.
When it's raining and I want to go for a walk I find the largest mall and park there and go for a walk in the mall. In a large mall I can easily kill a few hours walking around and then when I get tired I sit and watch the world go by.
Scott -- as someone who also enjoys rainy weather from time to time, I finally picked up a decent rain jacket and a pair of capable rain pants (both on sale and still not very cheap). The insulated anorak is a respectable black w. rust colored zippers. The bargain pants are straw in color -- so the first time I test them it will definitely be a long walk in stormy weather! If it's really coming down I'll deploy the ol' urethane coated ripstop poncho . . My carbon steel pan is not quite DeBuyer grade, but it's heavier than the cheapies -- and it gets a lot of use, so it gets a seasoning retrofit with a little 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper around the corners once in a while too. She ain't pretty, but she can cook!
I feel your TJ’s issue. I used to love their whole wheat sourdough because it had that really nice sourdough tang! Last couple of years I’ve noticed the flavor has changed and the last several loaves have been noticeably stale . Certainly edible, but a real decrease in quality with increased prices, so I rarely shop there anymore. The pan is absolutely perfect! ✌🏼
🌄🙋♀️☕🚐 Looking like Spring Home Cleaning. Really like your tea kettle as it matches your counter and gives for that professional "look." It can be surprizing just how much work can be accomplished by just doing an item or so at a time. 🚐☕🙋♀️🌄
