The incredibly talented Joey Brink performs my song "Rain" on his carillon, an enormous tower filled with 100 tons of bronze bells, some the size of a car, that you play with a massive keyboard at the top of the tower.

In theory it’s a great idea... but, in fact, carillons and pipe organs are usually tuned to different pitches, so it’s rare that they play nicely together.

Honestly, I'm just really happy for you dude. not only having your song performed on a building sized instrument on 100 tons of bells, but that also being broadcast through no digital media over a 2 mile radius to all of the surrounding neighboorhoods. I can only imagine what that feels like, but am so happy that you and this community could make it happen :)

I really loved the carillon episode. I grew up near Bok Tower in Florida which has carillons and it was always cool as a kid to hear them played.

I just think this goes to show you how fantastic of a song Rain is. It's obviously not a complete at all but for it to sound so beautiful on an instrument that is basically as far away as you can get from the one it was written on is astounding to me.

Best Korea the bells have a natural minor 3rd resonance, so when you play a note you’re also playing that note’s minor 3rd

Typo in the video description box regarding carillon tours. University of Chicago's website says tours are "usually TUESDAYS through Fridays, 11:30am & 4:30pm (and most Sundays at Noon)".

That’s basically a pipe organ. It’s the size of a building, there’s two or three sets of pedals, and it’s an entire orchestra’s worth of instruments to procure that sound. Except there’s just bells. And they will always play ... for whom the bell tolls.

If you look closely I'm the first video. There is a mechanism that says it's from Croydon which is south of London. The bells probably came from there as well
