Love the Survivor's body language always change, but never stop being curious and his attention is solely on Moon. I like to think he does understand what she says but only the more simple terms. He still baby.
I personally like to believe that he does understand more thanks to the mark's ability, but more sophisticated concepts are lost on him or has a very basic understanding of them, like he doesn't know what a "genome" exactly is, but understands it's the thing that makes non-machine/living things work. And then there are more truly abstract concepts, which he would have absolutely no understanding of.
The extra details, like the different voices for each iterator, Moon crackling a bit during the last Sky Island pearls, how she hesitates and seems to choke back a giggle when she's about to hop into void fluid dynamics and realizes Survivor won't understand a lick of it... Absolutely delightful.
Fun fact: There are only two readable pearls in Saint campaign, the first is the music pearl. And the second? It's the farm arrays pearl, the deep pink one, 21:47. So this actually makes me think that there is maybe some sort of types of 'pearl engravings' or pearl calligraphy, where maybe, depending on the receiver of the pearl and their status, the engraving is deep and durable. Moon is surprised too that the pearl is readable even after that long period of time
I find it extremely funny that one of the only surviving pearls is about people being happy for receiving material goods Something about irony and the big picture
I vaguely remember the pearl being like this because it was written and re-written to many times, burning the one message into it deeply. Perhaps this was in Five Pebble's comment on it, from Arti's campaign.
If you deliver it to Five Pebbles, he talks about how it must have been written into the pearl thousands of time to prevent the data from being changed, and moon in Saints campaign says that the quality is amazing, and that it is probably permanently burned into the pearl. She lastly wonders what will be remembered of her creators.
I like to think it's intentionally a reflection of our own experience with uncovering ancient cuneiform tablets and the like. So much of what we've found is just everyday stuff like this - receipts, ledgers, and so on.
I'm so glad to hear that! Was definitely the most nervous about doing all the voices, it's so hard to pinpoint how I feel each iterator would sound. So thank you ♥
I will admit, I got a little excited at "Five Pebbles' Pearls," thinking that that part would be pearls read by Five Pebbles, but I understand that that would be a departure from the rest of the video, which is already very much long enough! The atmosphere of the art is great, and I love the voice acting and that you chose to change voices for the different Iterators!
Survivor really going for the 100% completed. I did not expect each iterator to have a different voice, i was expecting all of it to ne just moon trying to impersonate different voices, nice detail, well done
This is so cute, I love how the Scuggies are happy to bring her the pearls and listen to her voice. Real friend stuff. Love the different poses and the reactions. Moon is really everyone's big sister, she's so nice.
Aaaa i love how Survivor changes poses and yawns they're so cute. Also the Hunter cameo!!! I'd love to see the downpour pearls as well but don't burnt yourself out 👍
I never heard all the white pearl ones before and some of those are hilarious, i imagine some young scavenger was doing his math homework and just wrote the 8 down to not forget it ot something
The animations are lovely, and Moon's VA line delivery is amazing. The Sky Island pearls gave me chill with how emotionnally charged those few lines were
Moon is so kind to the slugcats. i just realized the depth of effort she (and by extension the writer) expends to make sure they can understand each text/document in some way. she could have read each entire thing front to back and been done with it (and it would likely have pleased some deep lore enthusiasts who would want to study more of the Ancients' writing styles), but instead takes a moment to summarize, cut off if she senses she's losing interest*, and go above and beyond after translation to provide context(!!!) that a slugcat couldn't intuit on its own. it takes a lot of empathy to care for someone's different lived experience like that. (i wonder how many purposed organisms were smart enough to be considered on the level of persons? since she assumes scugs have this potential) (*also cute is how, when read chronologically like this, it seems like she picks up on how Survivor is not interested in long lists adjacent to the core information (shaded qualia pearl lol) and so in the future skips past it automatically
I love how she calls us the little archeologist, because however smart we may be, it really would be strange for a monkey to show up at your house every few months and give you an ancient tome and stare at you until you read it to them. It must be super unique for her, especially back in the day when these were first written before even monk and hunter existed, back then the survivor was the only being implied to even theoretically care about such things. And it also had the implication that 5P invented the mark of communication on the spot simply so he could explain where the slug cat should go to get out of his hair, which is both fitting his powers as an iterator and hilarious from the perspective of the Echoes who take it in remarkable stride.
This was everything I had hoped it might be~ From the lively little expressive notes of animation from the critter, and moon’s expressions and extra notes on top of the readings, it’s lovely~
The effort put into this is immaculate, I enjoyed it so much, the little details of the survivor’s body language the voices, the little fits of moon holding back laughter
@@Unoriginal____Starwalker one bit of FP white pearl dialogue mentions this pearl in particular: "An image of five bottles of water, standing upon a surface of filter feeding plants. A reflection of desire for something denied. A painting from the late Red literary dynasty by the famed painter Twenty-One Spokes of a Stone Wheel, a true visionary!"
@uberoh I love how Five Pebbles has an appreciation for art. It really made me compelled to go back to him with different pearls and hear his perspective.
I love how much effort and realism is put into this, its simply flowing with life. I would like to point out that it is mentioned in one of the broadcasts, the one where Seven Red Suns is explaining his communication with the messenger, that the Iterators do not have facial expressions, including their eyes.
The way Survivor sits at 1:37 is reminiscent of a photograph of a Pallas cat sitting on his tail, which now makes me want to see the Saint drawn as a Pallas cat. I cannot link to said photo because I guess RU-vid hates funny cat photos.
I sat through all of this, it is very well made! And I do like how you still made the boring blank white pearls still intriguing to watch with Survivor just, teleporting lol
Amazing art and voice acting, greatly done and thank you for making this. Hearing these again still brings tears to my eyes, especially when BSM forced communication, knowing the pain FP was causing BSM, and the inevitable fate of all the iterators at the hands of the Ancients' programming. It is heartbreakingly cruel, and a major credit to the writing of this game that these background NPCs' stories cause so much more emotional pain than the character you play. Not to say the different slugcats' stories don't also devastate, but the iterators' lives were terrible.
I love how wiggly and impatient Slugcat gets in some of these, contrasted with the occasional flopping over and being bored with the whole thing. There's a lot of life to each and every vignette.
HOLY VOIDS, an entire 30+ minute animation? You outdid yourself Fayren! Seriously, an animation of this quality while being so long? It's by far the most impressive work i've seen! Keep it up!
A fallen god reading ancient remnants of history to you, as you sit with them in the wreckage of their own body. Who knew it could feel so cozy until Rain World? This was a lovely interpretation and portrayal of our fleeting moments with the ever charming Big Sister Moon. Thank you for your hard work!
I really like the attention to detail in that Moon is able to directly play the voices of her fellow Iterators rather than just reading their dialogue in their own voice. It's a nice reminder that she's a construct, a machine.
The Sky Sail pearl has always inspired me to have some sort of air ship/blimp area that has a special "gate" only open every 3rd cycle, and then to a different location elsewhere on the map each time. Such as Sky Islands and Metropolis... or later DLC/Mod areas on a rotation. As if the automated vessel continued to float through the skys on a set path, even as it was crawling with new life and slowly decaying away.
HEHEHEHHRHDHRHRHR IM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH THIS IS ADORABLE??? I LOVE THIS SO MUCH THE ART AND THE VOICE ACTING IS SO GOOD 😭🙏🙏 Edit: Id love to see a pebbles and artificer version of this :o /nf Edit 2: 14:19 that five pebbles voice is SPOT ON omg Edit 3 (apologies): 26:35 first of all, that hunter design is PEAK, and second of all, the NSH voice is also spot on omg
YEEEAAA WOOOO your artstyle is so adorable and expressive i love it :> seeing all the different little surv poses and moon's eyes matching with the pearl dialogue and her little vocal hitches is *chefs kiss* wonderful :]
im so in love with your art style it looks so soft and pretty :3 i also really love the voices and the movements in this one. really everything about this video is lovely
oooh hell yea, been waiting for the pearl dialogs since the item video, but you know the drill when Gront is not present is the comment section of any RW video, Planting Flag Of Absence. (btw i got a strike from doing this but ill still do it :/ )
I imagine reading all these while acting as the characters was quite fun. It was for me when I went on the hunt for the lore pearls. If only I had a good way to record my voice, I would do something similar with the spearmaster broadcasts or 5p pearls
Sounds more like religious fanatic to me, I think it refers to those who were seen as spiritually and morally "impure", we know that some of them believe that trying to live and struggle was against their dogma ...
@@lhemnenn4713 It's probably referring to The House of Braids, which my guess is similar to earth rulers who were best known for their last name and their parents. My guess is that Ancients are less concerned about the whole inbreeding thing (having ONLY Braid heritage) due to their different reproductive system, Spoked Wheel being both mother and father after all.
All the voices sound good and well thought out, but my idea of SRS and NSH voices were different, but can't complain about these voices, just personally gave SRS a more calm quieter voice, and probably use SRS voice for NSH imo, but over all loved the resding and simple yet accurate animation
how funny i would be given this by the algorithm during my "Trying to collect all the pearls" run... I've made it to subterranean! I THINK I've collected almost all the coloured pearls, but it's possible i missed a few.
