Really common question: 'What if you can't have gelatin?' Answer: If you can't have gelatin for religious reasons try halalgel, if you are a vegetarian try ovalette (asian food stores may have it). Enjoy baking!
+How To Cook That I haven't tried this particular recipe, but I frequently use a very similar one as a base batter for just about everything, that also is based on a combination of water and oil (and eggs) as liquid (some family members of mine are lactose intolerant so that recipe gets used a LOT)and I hear about adding gelatine to the mix for the first time now. I've never done that before and the cake always turns out beautifully without it (or anything to replace it) - I simply start off (after beating the whites of course), beating the yolks and sugar together and gradually add the oil and water to it - and it mixes perfectly without the gelatine. (Then go on to add the dry ingredients, don't overmix after adding the flower and proceed as shown with the whites and the baking) Just in case anyone doesn't feel like hunting down a replacement for this. ^_^
when you took the ugly brown edge off the cake and it revealed the rainbow, it made me smile. :) have a nice day! Edit: wow this comment did not age well
In German, the „folding the eggwhite“ is called „unterheben“ - translates to „to lift under“. Oh and the whipped/stiffened eggwhites are called „Eischnee“ - egg-snow. It’s past 2 a.m., I just felt the need to post this, don’t judge me please. 😂🥱😴
In portuguese we also call the eggwhites "egg snow". It's "claras em neve". I think it's very cute to call eggwhites like that, even though it doesn't really look like snow :)
That explains the utter disaster when I, an American, tried the BBC's super taster experiment. Our much more hefty food coloring dyed my whole mouth, foamed up, and i looked like rabies had caused me to devour an entire Smurf village.
I bought these a while back, and they work brilliantlywww.cakecraftcompany.com/food-colourings-c321/gel-food-colours-c325/gel-paste-food-icing-colouring-p6748/s11815 for both cakes and Macarons
Your voice is so sweet. It has such a happiness and kindness sound..... It makes me so happy to see you making desserts, and on top of that a rainbow cake. This is a very joyful video :)
After all these years RU-vid finally recommends one of your videos to me instead of one of those Blossom/5-Minute Crafts/So Yummy videos.... could the algorithm be fixing itself? 🤔
IMPORTANT: There is a FAKE HowToCookThat account spamming in the comments that you can win a free iphone. This is not me so please DON'T GET TRICKED. They have been reported to RU-vid. I know it is a bit confusing because I am active in the comment section & sometimes I do giveaways of baking equipment but never iphones. If you're not sure if it's me, just check the subs (over 2 million) and over 250 videos. Thanks guys :)
+How To Cook That you want to know somthing i would lick on the pic and you have one million subs so if i click on the pic and it has no sub that is how i know he or she is a sacamer
Wow... Thank you so much. The only Rainbow 🌈 cakes, that I've seen online, all bake each colour SEPARATELY, not half cooking and layering. Great recipe 👍 thanks Ann.
Hello Ann. I'm on my daughters account now, and I wanted to say that my daughter really really really enjoys watching your videos, she is so satisfied, and so glad she found you. She also said she wanna live with you so she can eat all the cakes and the dough. 😂 Have a nice day, and keep up the good work! 👍 :)
I was searching the Internet for a rainbow cake for my sister who recently came out as gay. This was so amazing and it’s was a hit at her birthday party! Thank you Anne 😂❤️❤️
I am so thankful to you. This has been one of the most stress free cakes I have made in months. It was easy and beautiful and turned out great. Thank you so much for all your vidoes. Many of them have helped my baking adventures in the past.
Thank you so much for explaining why we do each step! It allows us to learn by technique rather than by recipe so we can apply it to our own creations! Love your channel Ann! :D
+Kim Daniel well, notice that she put a bowl with water underneath the cake, that will stop it,plus because it is in the bottom of the pan,it will not get cooked as strong as the others will, that's why. :)
I was worried about the same thing when I made her two layer brownies so I reduced the baking time... It was under baked. Just follow the instructions. She knows what she's doing.
+Kim Daniel isn't it 45 min ??anyway i was wondering the same thing and it's not becuz of the water underneeth or the on top i've seen it before in a japanese chanel Hey it's Moso Gourmet and she didn't do anything like steaming water or so and used super super thin layers for a rainbow cookie yet it didn't burn
Glad you love it ... make sure you share it for me :D Also I can't reply to some of your comments because there is no 'reply' button. This is due to your privacy settings in g+ if you go to g+ and either change your settings so 'anyone can comment on your posts' or 'those in your circles' and add howtocookthat to a circle it will be fixed.... lucky Tondi, Jaime Teh, Ellie Moonvalley, angela duay, Priyanka Sangar and lots more plus.google.com/b/117974384839655337367/+howtocookthat/posts
+Savannahloves Speed Art I almost fainted when she cut the brown bit of the cake coz how brite and pretty the cake looked 🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
A fun trick with rainbow cakes is to ice them with dark grey or black icing so that when it's first cut, the rainbow is a complete surprise. I did this once for a Pink Floyd fan, and did a Dark Side of the Moon logo on the top.
March 22 2013 Oh, cool make sure you get good quality black food colouring otherwise you well need to add too much and it will make the cake taste a bit weird
My friend would pick off all the macarons on the top, eat them, and then shove the cake into her mouth in 3 bites. Me? I'd eat it all in one giant mouthful. Good job once more, HowToCookThat!
@@cococowboah How did it go? Or did it already happen? I'm curious with how you will make the cake in your own way! Cause a huge rainbow wedding cake sounds so awesome haha.
i've never seen a comment section about pride have no homophobes in it [especially on non-pride related things] and seeing everybody being so nice and accepting makes me really happy
Thanks for this lovely recipe. When I was growing up, my step-mother would take long, thin skewers to poke holes in a cake while it was still in the pan, and then pour some flavored or plain simple syrup over the top. After letting is absorb into the cake, she'd remove it from the pan. This made the entire layer moist, not just the top. A real favorite was simple syrup mixed with some fresh lemon juice, for a really lovely, bright lemon flavor.
This isn't important, but those eggs are very high quality. They seem locally gathered. Maybe that's just because I'm used to crappy, low-nutrition eggs, though.
I have my own chickens, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had some too 😁 those eggs are delicious and you can always tell when a chicken is taken care of 😁
Most Grade A large eggs are the same nutritionally, the color of the shell is the only difference. The color correction on the video may lend to the deep color of the yolks.
Actually the rainbow was and is a promise from our Creator, that he would never flood the earth again. The symbol was purposefully stolen and rebranded by the Elite to mock our Creator. That said, I have nothing against homosexual people :-)
that is awesome Ann,my birthday is close so I told my mum to bake this recipe, she said she will, yay can't wait,to invite my friends and tell them about your channel❤❤
I don't know what went wrong, but only first layer baked in 9 min, the rest were super liquid in the middle. I had to increase the baking time..... It's not as easy as you show it to be lol What do you think I did wrong?
If you want to frost it you do want to take off that brown layer, because otherwise when you cut into the cake you will be able to see the brown layer between the frosting and the rainbow and it just doesn't look nice. If you don't care about that, then no, you don't have to.
I never had 6 cake tins and always wanted to make a rainbow cake but it wouldve of just took like a hole day to make but your version will take me so much more less ! Ty !
@@tagrisaj3344 well you can also follow Ann's macarons recipe in the description. Also, the macarons are more for decorating and you could easily switch that out for anything else. You can buy them from nice bakeries or high end supermarkets if you think it's too much hassle. There's nothing wrong with using shop bought items if you're struggling with a recipe.
@@pigeon1923 Yes but the problem with that is that this is supposed to be a relatively EASY dessert and adding macaroons makes it hard for it to become a beginner dish.
@@tagrisaj3344 I don't know why you're so pressed about the macarons. Like i said, the macarons are optional. Either buy some, make it yourself or leave it out. Use that brain of yours instead of moaning. The macarons aren't particularly difficult to do in my opinion. Maybe try the recipe once or twice and you'll get it right. Just as long as you follow the recipe, you should be good to go. You could easily replace the chocolate and macarons for a nice easy buttercream frosting and some sprinkles.
Thank u Ann was looking for this idea as I need to bake a three layer cake with different colours for a flag at one shot for a competition.. really helped ❤️ thanks again
Yeah, like she didn't make it for pride or LGBTQA+, but that's what it reminded me of. My friend always makes stuff like this for pride, and it always looks really cool.
The gayest cake I’ve seen in a while, love it and probably gonna make a rainbow cake soon, but it’s not gonna be a steam cake, jyst food dye bc I don’t use gelatine bc I’m a vegetarian
