Carp Fishing: Rainbow Lake, maybe the most famous lake in the world!! I hadn't been for several years but could I still catch some of those pressured but highly prized fish?
Thanks glad you liked it. No I've not got a polariser for the drone I've just tried to position it to give the best view but I think it's something I'll be getting in the future.
Nice team work, loading the boat and getting your life jacket on. Hope you and Joan are well, it’s on my bucket list too, but we’ll see. Thought the appending up and music might of been MR Blair and his D n B mix for the rave. Be lucky.Happy 50 th Tom
Its nice to see all the different top names from all the different company's, young and old (no offence) all together having a wonderful time. Seen all your videos but the Rainbow ones top them all.
Loved watching you and Joan fishing rainbow 🌈 Steve😀 it's definitely on my bucket list! It's the most prehistoric lake I've ever seen a different level of carpyness which blows my mind Steve! Scenery and fish😯 thank you Danboy..
Great vid, beautifully filmed. Good angling Steve. Interesting they don't notice the steep line up to the bottle. I guess it's similar to float fishing really and that does plenty of carp. If everyone's doin it you'd think they'd wise up but needs must and all that. Tight lines from the banks of a large northern england canal / river system.
Thanks very much!!! Yes the fish simply don't worry that much about the lines going straight up, I suppose in many cases people have markers near to baited areas with lines going vertical too. If anything it helps to keep more of the lines out of the way, it was quite noticeable that when people first started using bottles and keeping lines on the surface, the fish would move through swims far easier and overall it seems to be a better way of fishing - at least on Rainbow.
@@stevebriggs4638 oh ok, that would be a good theory if nobody have fished there. Fish get hurt in that process no matter how much we care about them. But anyway looks like dream location to me. Maybe one day 😁
That’s one commanding lake to fish Steve You’ve fished some great lakes over the years and caught some fantastic fish One very lucky man all the best for the future Keep them line’s tight
Rainbow is such an intricate complex lake bars ,snags bays etc and the reality is if you get ot right on the day/week an absolute monster is a not just a dream but a reality! I remember you and crowey on here and what a lake this is with these big old carp swimming around waiting to be caught🐳👍good sportsmanship to bart for telling you about those fish in the bay👌top angling steve and well done to joan too 👌👌👍👍
Hi Steve.ive just started on a tricky venue and no nothing much about what bait to use etc .would you use a bait you are confident in rather than concern yourself with what others are using ?regards David
@@daveshaw5293 I always just do my own thing and don't worry too much about what other people are doing. I've always done better that way and always use the baits that I'm confident with - a good bait is always a good bait 🙂👍
I hate to sound negative and ho against the concensus of opinions here but Rainbow lake hasn't and never will be a place I wish to fish. Having said that it is a remarkable place with some lovely fish and fairplay to those that love this sort of fishing, horses for courses.
Yes there’s lots of people have told me that they’d never fish rainbow for different reasons like you say horses for courses - mind you lots of people say they wouldn't like Rainbow and then once they are there they can't get back there again fast enough!!
only boilies allowed now no other bait, life jacket compulsory every time in boat, smoking only allowed in bivvy or car, battery charging only in daytime and others that I can't remember now
Lovely film Steve, Hope you and Joan are both keeping well, its great to see you both out still doing the passion you love, Cracking to return to rainbow awesome lake, Look forward to seeing your next adventure somewhere beautiful, Kind regards Lee ❤
Really enjoyed your return to rainbow Steve, that 56lber was an absolutely pristine mirror, testament to the quality of the fish and the anglers that are lucky enough to fish there. Proper rainbow magic, loved it!
Hi Steve that is a lovely video, thank you! I am a angler who lives very close by. Before the fires I was fishing Bousquey and it is still closed. Did you find any information on how it is?
Hello Steve...thanks for the video...can you please explain a bit the "set up" with the plastic bottle? I know is for fishing in snags bit I'm not familiar with it.. Thank you in advance...
Yes it keeps the line up on the surface so that if you are fishing over snags and shallow bars it helps keep the line free. The line just goes straight up to the bottle from the lead (The bottle just has a back lead clip attached to the cap) and then to the rod. The fish actually seem to like the line being out of their way too
@stevebriggs4638 thank you...if you fish long distance with a bait boat this set up is still efficient or you need a boat to land the fish? There's a stopper on the line for the bottle or just running freely on the line?
@@TiberiusWorld It's really a set up that I've only used at this lake. It would be difficult without a boat as you'd just be pulling fish back to the snags that you're fishing over, normally I would follow the fish out with the boat but in the video I was pulling fish in to a safe area before going in the boat. Yes in the video it shows the pole elastic back stop as I drop the rig set about 1 meter over depth
We’ve talked a lot about Cassien and going back but the day fishing does make it difficult, we loved the winter trips but short days and extra gear needed make it a tough one, there are so many good places out there that allow night fishing that they make it more difficult to go back to Cassien
@@stevebriggs4638 Ah what a shame. I hear the catfish are causing problems and with no Gerrard to do his restocking programs it sounds like a bit of a non starter, sadly. I only went once in a round 2003(?) it was the week before Joan had her real biggie and we fished from the swim near Gerrards.. I only had a low double common, but it was a Cassien carp and I fell in love with the place, but that was just before it all started changing with the night fishing bans etc. It's a shame somebody can't get it back to how it was but that's a huge undertaking especially with Anglo/French relationships etc. Thanks for the response Steve. All the best on your next adventures!!
@@mikemccaine4229 Yes it all changed when Gerard retired as he helped a lot with carp fishing there - although he also stocked the catfish which are a real menace now!!! the new head of the federation is not so carp angler friendly although there has been a recent stocking of new carp. I hope one day things can change but I doubt it will ever be how it was. It was 2002 when Joan had her fish.
@@stevebriggs4638 Ah yes 2002 it was definitely the week after me and my pal went because you mentioned it at The Carp Show at Five Lakes and we looked at each other, me and my fishing pal, with that expression of "one week out" haha. All the best Steve. You had the "Golden Years" on that lake so all is not bad!!
a dream...to watch....again...great fishing...great ideas...great thinking ´bout the lake....it´s a "Steve Briggs" 💚...also great to see anotha´ legend: Tim Paisley.
looks a lovely lake. just can't get behind this boating your rigs out crap. having the ability to hit your mark is the only skillful part to modern fishing and now people cba to do that
