Rainbow at Liseberg was a ride manufactured by German manufacturer Huss. In 1983 Liseberg celebrated 60 years as a park and with this the new ride Rainbow. Rainbow was not bought by Liseberg themselves but another company.
Fantastic memories from this ride. Still havent been to Linnanmäki but it is high up on the bucketlist. They sound was incredible. Actually the Zierer Starshape rides makes a quite similiar sound. Thanks for your comment :)
23 year old swede here! I never got to ride it, but i remember that sound it made so clearly. But it always made me feel scared, i cant explain it but it was like i could feel the sound being a warning siren of death 💀
@@simonw0131 the sound for me reminds me of an awesome day at Liseberg and brings back great memories. The sound of Rainbow was both welcoming you to the park and said goodbye when you went home. Still miss the sound of Rainbow
Jag själv åkte Rainbow när jag var 9 år, 2007, ett år innan olyckan, vilket också har varit den enda gången jag besökt Liseberg hittills. Saknar den fortfarande då och då.
I don’t fully remember now since it was such a long time ago but I’m pretty sure it was from some official documents that I managed to dig up about the ride :)
Gammla fina Rainbow. Den var ett måste när jag var på Liseberg. Det var hemskt att höra om omyckan. Minns att jag grätt för jag förstod att Rainbow skulle försvinna. Gick nästan inte till den delen av parken efter det då det inte fanns något där kvar som jag gillade. Toppen video! 😁👍
Det var en riktigt fin attraktion och jag saknar ljudet och synen av den. Om du lyssnar på Mechanica så har den vissa likheter till ljudet. Det var jätte hemskt att det som skedde, skedde. Den delen av parken förstördes absolut när Rainbow försvann. Men så bra det kommer att bli nu med hotellet. Tack så mycket Josefina. Snart kommer säsong 2 av dokumentärer och ett nytt avsnitt kommer att släppas varannan torsdag med start nu på torsdag 1/9 :)

Den första blinkade det gjorde den inte när den blev blå och solen kom tillbaka. Dock är det samma "mittendel". Jag minns inte om jag lyckades säkra den informationen och därav uteblev förklaring i videon :)
In Mexico, we had one, still operated till 2015 I believe, don’t know where it went, since dismantled. Many times have ridden it, but once it was very intense, don’t know if it was in manual mode.
To me this accident looks like it was from the ride itself and no maintenance issue. It was bought 3 times and was running since the 1990s. I’ve never know a fairground ride run that long. It was wear and tear what caused this as you said in the video the ride had to be completely dismantled to find the issue
You ar very right, no maintenance issues. But remember that the part that broke was service and replaced on time and it have many hours left until the next service.
You remember correct. In many rides around the park it was common to play pop music. Since a couple of years back when the park went more in the Theme park direction this have changed. Yes it rarely happens today that you are allowed to do double rides.
Rainbow changed again in 2003 when Liseberg celebrated 80th anniversary. 5 years later it would crash. 1983 - 1993 The original sun 1993 - 2003 Liseberg bunny 2003 - 2008 Smaller sun
Jag har åkt Rainbow många gånger, den och Lisebergsbanan åkte jag varje gång jag var på Liseberg och jag var där ofta, var inte där den dan utan såg det på nyheterna och blev chockad...så otäckt, skönt att ingen dog eller fick permanenta skador. Liseberg använder inte Huss längre. Maybe a video about Lisebergs first wooden coaster.
Samma här. Rainbow var viktig på LIseberg. Jätte otäckt och hemskt när sådant händer. Det stämmer, Liseberg har ingen attraktion från tillverkaren Huss idag. Men det kan ändra i framtiden. Huss har några rätt så häftiga attraktioner. Hmm, I will think about that. It would be pretty hard to find pictures and videos from that period. Have started to script on a video about Kållerado.
I was involved in a similar accident same ride as this magic carpet but the cause was completely different. Surf rider at Skegness bottons pleasure beach I broke my wrist because it hit the bars but I was ok overall. The ride wasn’t looked after and it even got inspected the day before the crash. The gondola completely collapsed causing it to tilt one way at full speed. I hate remembering it
Never good to hear about accidents in parks or about the people that it affects. Im glad you're okey and wasn't more hurt at the time. I know the mental part takes longer if not forever to "get over". Thanks for watching and commenting.
4:17 ride inspectors can’t spot everything unfortunately especially with this being a old ride. Hursts to say it but it should’ve been dismantled after its final colour and rebuilt that would’ve avoided this

@@CoasterStop Do you have more details about the accident? Like was it coming from the top slamming full speed into the ground? The sound must have been horrifying.. I wish there was more videos and images of it all so I could get answers to all my questions!
@@jonathanmellqvist2 yes I do have more details about the accident. It slammed into the ground with the full speed it had at that moment yes. The ride system did not know that the insides had snapped and that the “couch” was out of position. There is no more videos that I know of but there are pictures on the insides of the ride. Which I do have. In time they will be allowed for release. The most important thing to know here is that no persons at Liseberg is to be blame. The inspections was done flawlessly and so was the operating of the ride. Also everyone survived this horrifying incident.
Minns detta som igår när rainbow gick sönder va bara 4 år när detta hände men minns hur jag tänkte till mig själv att när jag blir stor ska jag åka denna men det hände aldrig :/
Jag minns det också som igår. Det finns några liknande kvar i världen så med lite tur så kanske du får möjligheten någon gång. Det var en riktigt bra åkattraktion. :)
Sad that it ended with the most tragic ending a ride could’ve ever had, unfortunately these type of rides are super rare and a lot of them got taken out BECAUSE OF LISEBERG.
Very sad since it was a fun ride. They did not get taken out because of Liseberg though. They were removed after the accident because the flaw in the ride that was found after the accident at Liseberg.
@@CoasterStop luckily no, me and my mom was on kållerado and my grandma called us and asked if we were unharmed. At first we didn't realize what had happened, but we soon understood

@@NostalgiaTV-Suomi Thats a document that you need to order from the accident commission in Sweden (you pay per page that is ordered). I got access to read the documents to make this video so not something that I have at home.
The ride controller didn't pay attention. Contrller didn't care to hit the emergency stop. The daily ride check-ups weren't made at all, the ones responsible had at the same time done inspection on other rides. How can they be on two places at the same time? The ride controller and mechanics should have been sentenced to prison.
