Probably to speed up boot times cus some dudes are impatient and too lazy to click left mouse button(including me)so for me in my opinion I kinda loved that change
I think it’s called a motif, or in this case, leitmotif. Video games like R6 and Apex has it in the seasonal soundtracks to maintain identity whilst changing themes.
I don't think this falls into the category of a leitmotif. Leitmotif's are traditionally used to represent ideas, characters, or places, and the theme is usually developed harmonically and rhythmically throughout the course of a work. The "5 notes" are, I think, more accurately described as a motif. They are harmonically almost exactly the same during ever season's theme, and they are just part of the theme for the game, so I wouldn't think of it as an example of leitmotif.
Regarding "Where is Shifting Tides?" and "Where is Operation Health?": Shifting Tides didn't feature the 5 note leitmotif because the operators came from Nighthaven, not Rainbow 6. Operation Health used Velvet Shell's theme, but just changed the seasonal image. There would be no point in showing the same theme back-to-back with a different image. Side Note: These are not the title images (some exceptions). These are other images that also feature the operators that came alongside the season.
I remember joining White Noise for the first time thinking that was the only theme I would hear. Then Chimera comes around and I was just like, “There’s different music each season?!” But the 5 notes were always the same, and it was already nostalgic one season later
same happened to me for void edge, I was so confused like wait, am I playing rainbow six siege or operation void edge? do I need to buy void edge to play the game?
I remember coming home from school eagerly waiting the day I would get to play as Frost when Black Ice first dropped. I also remember the menu music of Black Ice the most out of all of them because of how nostalgic it was for me. The more I think about it, the more I miss 2016 :(
I wasn't playing around then, but I remember seeing the trailers for Blackbeard's season, and hearing all these themes takes me back. Wasn't until Blood Orchid when I joined this weird, fun, messy, polarising game
I remember getting home and having no idea there was a dlc. Such a cool feeling to find out what was new completely blind. Oh the days of black jesus glitches, sniper 90, and "useless" buck.
I first bought Siege late Void Edge. The first time I heard the notes, and I didn’t know anything about those notes being special to Siege. Now listening to other ones sound nice, but Void Edge gives me such good memories.
It saddens me to see this because I really liked the earlier seasons of this game. I think recently they’ve been trying to reinvent themselves to keep the game running for as long as possible, and they’ve changed what made many people love Siege in the first place. It’ll always hold a special place in my heart.
Nøkk and wardens theme always felt like the evolved version of the original theme for me, it’s also when I started properly playing siege, yes I know I’m relatively new.
I think that phantom sight had the best theme. Been playing since skull rain. Velvet shell gives me goosebumps because that's when I really dedicated myself
My top 3: Chimera Black Ice Velvet Shell. I spent so much time playing during Para Bellum, Burnt Horizon, Phantom Sight. So much nostalgia... I think we should be able to pick our themes in the lobby cause some of these are so nice to listen to. I’ll gladly start playing siege again if I get to hear my Chimera music in the lobby 😁👍
@@elzbietabosak8969 They're the top three I will agree to that, I just really liked how they stretched out the notes to make it sound like a middle eastern scale.
On Christmas I got a game that my friends told me to get, called Tom Clancy rainbow six seige. I installed it and when I opened it up to see operation white noise qmd heard those first five notes, I got chills. Amd when I went to go play my first ever match, a notification popped up: install ubisoft club to play online.
Dude when i opened white noise for the first time ever because my friends had it i deadass scared at the press any button screen for like a minute straight because of the music
Same here mate. Christmas Day, 2017, my friends tell me to buy Siege and the first thing I hear is the Operation White Noise theme followed by the relevent cinematics showing Dokkaebi and Vigil. How I miss those times.
I joined to Rainbow Six when Void Edge was starting and oh boy, it was one of the best games I’ve ever played. I never regret meeting this masterpiece of game
Rainbow is Magic did have the 5 notes, but they happen at a slightly different time and are much faster than the rest. I decided it would be better off not to include them as they’re quite different from all the other ones.
Grim Sky and Void Edge have the coolest imo, but every theme genuinely slaps and is also a perfect thematic fit to each season, it’s genuinely astonishing that a game with no story mode still incorporates so much narrative into the soundtrack alone
My personal top 5- 1. Velvet Shell 2. Grim Sky 3. White Noise 4. Void Edge 5. Chimera I love all of these, but for some reason, Velvet Shell just has a very ominous and tense feeling, it's very distinct.
For real and red crown that’s when i started 2015 and its been 5 years its sad cause the game feel different cuase they took all of those little thinks that made it unique
I started playing on Blood Orchid, but imo White Noise is the most memorable one, Idk why Edit: Not that it was the best season, it was probably Chimera, but it was definitely memorable
Do I miss Siege? No... I miss what it was between Ember Rise and Steel Wave. Before it went totally off the wall. But yeah, I miss it a little. Maybe someday I'll redownload it.
Velvet Shell & Operation Health always be the mosz nostalgic and favorite for me. I didnt even know how much year ago was those themes but i know i joined that time
Also it's crazy how the game went from 2 operators + a new map (8 operators a year + 4 maps) per season to 1 operator a year and a reworked shit or some lame ass map with 3 entrances and windows in every room. There's a saying if you can't deliver quality then sick with quantity so not only we have neither of those but at Ubisoft they forgot how big the game grew with fresh air every season.
Chimera OST give me goosebumps every single time.. Also the OG ost is crazy, always wished we could choose the ost we want to hear (such as fortnite (only game I know that does that))
white noise always sends shivers down my spine, i wish we could choose our own soundtrack in the main menu cuz i’d sit there just listening to white noise 5 notes all day
Neon Dawn probably won’t have it either due to the operator being part of Nighthaven. Steel wave had the motif, but that’s because Melusi isn’t Nighthaven.
