In this video I install a 11575 L rainwater tank to collect the rainwater that falls on the roof of my workshop. First we constructed a cement slab base for the tank and then I made piping to connect the gutters to the rainwater tank.
In Part 2 I hook up the water tank overflow pipe and connect the pump to make good use of all that collected rainwater - • Rainwater Tank Part 2 ...

Watched all three vids and was spell bound at the pride and enjoyment in your work. Although I've lived in Adelaide since 1990, I haven't lost my pommy accent and am extremely jealous of your rich Aussie tone! Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope I can get my wife to hold the broom for me when my time comes (and I'll refrain from the obvious comment about it being her mode of transport - just kidding, she's cool). Fingers crossed. Regards - Simon

This is fantastic! I will absolutely be installing this system on my property. Quick question though, what was the volume of the rain barrel for reference?

Thanks Doug! The floor is magic, really awesome stuff. I’ll do a bit of a review and tour of the workshop once I’ve finished the walls in there (waiting for sign off) :)

Great video. Exactly what I have been looking for. Can you tell us how thick your concrete base is?

I aimed for 100mm (it’s not perfect, but close).

I had terrible luck with water going into a top screen. I think that's what yours show. A LOT of water bounced out. I put a bulkhead fitting into the side and attached the pipe to it. I hope your does better.

Hi Wayne. Yeah it’s a screen alright. It’s fairly deep so fingers crossed but I know what you mean, my house down pipes have double screens and a fair bit bounces off the first one in a heavy downpour. Thanks for the comment, I’ll make a short next time it rains :)
