Rainy day in a forest house, Installing a vintage stove, Cabin building in the woods

We don't have snow yet, but the temperature is dropping rapidly. To stay warm I need to install a stove. Since I want to create a cozy cabin, the stove should look like a vintage one. It was not easy to drag it to the cabin, the weight of the stove is 79 kilograms. The day was quite rainy, but that didn't interfere with my plans. Bad weather in a place like this adds a special charm.
2 days in a log cabin • Two days in a mountain...
DIY cabin in the forest • Cabin in the woods wit...

That stove looks perfect for your hut. 😊👍👍 I have two tips for you. - You may consider to further protect the wall behind the stove with sheets of something non-combustible. The stove will with time dry out the wood panelling and make it more inflammable. Place a sheet of the same material under the stove too, to protect the floor. - Consider the possibility of exchanging the upwards bend in the stovpipe on the outside with a T-section and place it so you can see the ground through the pipe when you look through it from the top. The third hole can be blanked off with a tight fitting lid. The T-section will make chimney sweeping easier in the long run. You will need to do it at least once a year - preferably twice, seeing that you burn conifer wood (pine, spruce, 🌲) in your stove. This kind of wood contains more resins than dedicious woods (birch, rowan, alder, aspen, 🌳) thus create more creosote. Creosote is flammable 🔥 and can cause chimney fires. You wouldn't like your hut to burn down from something like that, would you? 🙃🙂 Good luck with the continued work on your hut. 👋🙂

Hello Roman, you now have a beautiful, heatable forest house, you have your own well for drinking water, and you also have enough for heating! But you don't have something!!! Do you know what it is? I'm telling you! "You're still missing a toilet house"! That would be really great if you could build something like that. I wish you much success in all your projects. Greetings Walter 👍🏻 and keep yourself warm and dry

Places to sit and tables inside and outside I know are coming soon. You can build a wheelbarrow/sled to give your back and muscles a break when carrying things from a drop off place so far away. I enjoy chopping and sawing wood when I am in the woods. I bet you can make a shed to store wood out of the leftover pallets. Stay warm and safe. Thanks for sharing your progress.

Can you use the wood from the pallets to make a bench, sleeping platform, chairs, table, etc... You seem to have lots of them. Love watching your cabin progress. What a lovely stove. Does it need a fire retardant material under it, or are the legs on it enough to raise it high enough not to need that
@mypersonaljournal
@mypersonaljournal 9 месяцев назад
I'm still checking the height of the legs, but the floor was barely warm after the first time. You can make something out of the pallets... if they are not too rotten.
