Nikai is a captive-born gray wolf at the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, in South Salem, NY. He is one of the three 'educator wolves' at the WCC that help teach the public about wolves and their vital role in the environment.

I've always said dogs, wolves etc are _just_ like us, except no verbal language, different anatomy, and less abstract concepts in their minds. the way they think about their loved ones, get excited/disappointed when someone walks up to/past the door, the way they think about food and feeding others... it really must be just like us, again just without words and maths.

Nikai is a boy. He lives with his older brother Zephyr ( the head of the family) and his older sister Alawa. Zephyr and Alawa are twins and are almost tree years older than Nikai.

Animals are far more intelligent than most people realize. As intelligent as dogs are, wolves have been objectively proven to be far more intelligent. They have a very social order and live in loving family units.

Great video. A keystone creature, the wolf is, for keeping the balance of eco-systems with many other species being a part of it. We need to get the grey wolf back on the endangered species list. Right now there's an unfortunate amount of slaughter across many states happening or about to with this creature. Red wolf numbers also super low, just about extinct, they are on the endangered species list.
