I think this is an actual thing studied by science. I remember seeing a video about this kind of thing where if you have a losing streak, your chances of losing will increase and vise versa. According to the video, studies show that if you keep this streak for a week you will have to stop doing where your losing streak is from for a week to reset your chances to normal. So that's probably what's happening here

Yeah, when I was starting out, I downloaded Genshin a day before my final exams started because I was stressed out. I played for an hour, did a couple of pulls and uninstalled for the sake of my exams. One week later, after my exams were done, I re-installed the game, played much further and saved a bunch of pulls. In about 60 intertwined fates, I got 1 Jean and 1 Tartaglia. And in about 10 standard banner pulls, I got 1 more Jean. I was like, beginner returner's luck is real.

Personally, I have found that certain days roll better artifacts than others. If you roll a stat you dont want, stop farming for the day and try again another day. Same is true(I use this word loosely) when leveling them up. If you roll a stat you don't want, stop for the day and try again another day. You can even do trial artifacts to see if there is consistency before rolling on one you really like. P.s. take this with a grain of salt. I only have anecdotal evidence of this. It works for me, it may not work for everyone.

I didn’t play for two weeks before 3.5 phase 2. Then a week before the banner ends, I got ayaka and shenhe and their weapons for less than 200 pulls. After the 3.6 update I am now guaranteed Kokomi since qiqi came after 23 pulls :DD

One technique I do is, I add characters that is NOT level 10 friendship in my party which gives good artifacts. If all your characters in your party has level 10 friendship, it will give you garbage artifacts.

As a person who has 287 lvl 20 artifacts, those are lower tier artifacts my friend I basically use all artifacts as fodder if they have defense stat or not 2 max substats Max sub stars are like 3.9% crit rate, 7.8% crit damage, 6.5% er, 5.8% hp or attack, 23 element mastery

I remember that works for boss fights as well. Specifically, boss fights connected to the archon quest. I remember i struggled with the childe fight but then i didn't play the game for like 3 weeks due to finals. When i came back, i finished the fight in the 1st try!!

I can confirm this! I haven’t played the game since release! (that means 2 years since then) and came back in 3.5, so I decided to do a 10 pull on Ayaka’s banner (pity history was 0 from what i remember) and got her on the 8th pull!

Played for a while, got bored of my main account so I switched to an alt which I created long ago, got nahida at 20 pity (ar19). So if you want to give up these daily resin and primos to have your luck increased, go for it
