A month of heavy winds and rain can do a number on a vegetable garden. Some good, and some not so good. How did it affect potatoes, onions, peppers, tomatoes, blackberries, etc?

I've started picking tomatoes and cucumbers this week. Green Beans should be next. It's the best time of the year!

Wow, Beit Alpha cucumbers! I want them. This February, I grew four cucumber plants in my 4x4 tent. I was pollinating them like a crazy bee, but with limited success-despite having hundreds of flowers, I only ended up with 15 nice cucumbers. Thank you so much! The day is not wasted; I have learned something new.

@@growandpreserve Me too! I'm excited to try the Sugar Rush peach pepper. This will be the first time ever growing them. The only thing I didn't plant was banana peppers. I totally forgot to start the seeds. I need to go to a greenhouse and purchase a few. I was going to suggest a green bean to you called strike beans. We grow them all summer here in KY (the heat index gets so hot). They tolerate the heat, they are stringless, and we have gotten, at times, over 100 beans on one plant. They are the only beans we grow now. If you like green beans, you may enjoy this Variety. Thank you again, Carter. Have a beautiful day!

So nice to see you Carter. Wow you must be a professional organizer because you are amazing at it. Your garden looks great. Isn't it wonderful how good a garden can make you feel. Your cabbages are just beautiful. Shame that we have so many bugs that we end up feeding. You need a mesh of some king to frame them up. You are going to have an incredible tomato harvest along with peppers.

We got a wicked storm blow through yesterday that flattened the zucchini. Some of the tomatoes were battered but were bouncing back pretty quickly. Then we got another downpour today. 😂 I had just reapplied the diamotous earth (slugs are having fun) and have to reapply. It had lasted for a good week.

Carter, the weather in the central parts of the US has been a challenge; we’ve had the same mess in central Indiana. I’m having to replant winter squash and some sugar snap peas. Can’t blame the weather, though. One lesson learned: dogs think the bone and blood meal I added to the soil is too tempting to leave alone. Mine jumped the fence just to dig those areas. 😂
@growandpreserve
@growandpreserve 3 месяца назад
Oh no! My dog loves to get into those too, plus the fish emulsion. Ick! Hopefully both our replantings will be successful.

No, it is hard to fight the weather! 10 inches?! Wow. That is so rough on tomatoes. Hopefully they'll recover and you'll be able to keep disease at bay until you're satisfied with your harvest.

Where are your okra seeds? Aren't you going to sneak them behind the berry patch? ha ha Garden is looking good for all the rain. Throw some fertilizer out and wrap whatever bed the bunny gets into with netting. I did and now I finally have beans and okra after the second planting. Texas is having crazy rain also. What is the name of pepper "peachy"? Thanks for the video. Happy holiday and Safe travels.

Your garden looks wonderful!! Was that spiky plant an artichoke? I have tomatoes and the potatoes are flowering. Little nubs on my 4 pepper plants. Harvested the broccoli, all of the bok Choi, and green onions. Dried some herbs as well. One week and counting, but most everything is done. I hope the kids don't kill my plants and just enjoy the harvest while I'm gone. Last night was dicey but finally got to bed at 230 without damage. Hope your place fared well also. Til next video!!!connie
@growandpreserve
@growandpreserve 3 месяца назад
Hey, Connie! Packed yet? No artichokes here, but maybe next year. That was probably one of the flowers. It sounds like your garden and your freezer are in a great place for you to take off awhile. We had a good bit of hail here, some as large as a quarter. It decapitated several of my flowers and some of my tomatoes, poked holes in the pepper leaves, and flattened all of my onion tops. We'll see! So glad you made it through without damage. It was a doozy!

@@growandpreserve yes I'm packed. Just finishing up! Found baby peppers today. About a dozen green tomatoes. We had no hail or damage here. It missed us again thank God! Once was enough for me 60k damage in that one lol. Be watching for your next videos!

@@growandpreserve yes I hope so! It wiped out my weaving studio and all inside it. I was lucky I had my merchandise with me in Memphis at a show! Of course as you know, our storms come in from Memphis so it wiped out my tent and all the clothing was soaking wet. No sales, and no power when we arrived home! But we were alive, well, and the rest is just stuff. I retired early! Maybe that was the plan, I was working too hard. With that being said I made two shawls last week and one is on the loom now!
