Most brilliant comedy I have ever seen or heard. My husband doesn't watch TV but he watches this and is as obsessed with it as I am. If you haven't watched it, you must before you die.
I'm an American whose just discovered this show and I was just devastated that it ended so soon. There was so much more to explore, especially with Aretha's sexuality. If this show had made it to America on Netflix or something, the Kickstarter would have succeeded, I am sure of it.
They actually did a kickstarter for a movie and just missed the total they wanted. I think Caitlin said if they didn't get the amount they wouldn't try again. Really sad about it because I didn't even know about the kickstarter until a few days after it finished. The shows on britbox now, so I hope the numbers there means that bbc, itv and channel 4 might do something together. I think Charlie Brooker even said most channel 4 programs don't get a third series when he was talking about Black Mirror one time
I hate that this wasn’t renewed. There are very few good character-driven comedies. Nowadays the only show for which I’ll bother to turn on the TV is Bob’s Burgers and while I usually avoid kid-driven shows like the plague, this one struck me as fresh, original and honest. Germaine is seriously, outrageously sexualized, but for herself, not to gain approval by submitting to one of society’s roles for her.
Yeah, it was great, I remember watching it on tv during my early teenage years with my mum and sister (I'm male), we used to watch it religiously and a few of the phrases made it into in-jokes for a good few years afterward. Apparently, American audiences had a version and I kinda want to see it but they are yet to resurface.
