What is to stop bitcoin on the main chain from being squeezed out of being used in any transaction as credit derivatives take its place due to the costs associated with moving on the main chain? And then if almost nobody is settling on the main chain why would miners continue to stand ready to solve a hash? It generally happens very slowly, but credit and derivatives replace real money. then when the music stops and its clear that the real money cant support the credit claims, leaders will remove real money from the system and then back to fiat. If its too costly to interact with bitcoin on chain, although small circles of people will use Lightning, why would anyone hold and use actual bitcoin...other than a few people out of principle? The large institutions that hold your bitcoin and transact over lightning may not have as much bitcoin as claimed (fractional reserve banking) leading the world down the same path as before

BTC is sound money not the creator of heaven and earth. Sound money is valuable and helpful but is of no worth without faith in Christ. Living the principles of Christs Gospel creates strong families and in turn creates strong communities and nations. Sound money can support this but it does not replace it.

I’d love to dive deeper into this with you Jed. Please realize what I wrote on the post-it note was a joke. With that being said, what principles did Christ teach that Bitcoin doesn’t help incentivize? I’d argue Jesus would be a huge fan of a monetary system that allowed the poor to store and secure the value of their labor. When I think of think of Jesus’ teachings I think of honesty, transparency, doing good for your neighbor and your enemy. And don’t forget, he threw the money changers out of the Temple. So does Bitcoin.

@@chadparks7553 Chad, yes I believe sound money is important and has great value. But the thoughts from watching the couple in that video were that they were making BTC their God. Money is important in the world for transacting with one another and sound money solves a lot of the world’s problems created by loose money. But BTC is not virtuous of its self. The only true and living God and his son Jesus Christ bring peace and salvation.

Just because something has positive qualities, and you believe it is "so good" - doesn't mean it's good, and just because the government doesn't want it doesn't make it automatically good - isn't a proof point for it being good.

Bitcoin is truth because it is mathematically certain and transparent. This quality of truth associates it with other truths found in religion, science, and human interaction. So the question for you is: Is truth good?

You’re not wrong, but this video is more about the second-order effects of Bitcoin ownership (and for this family in particular) than it is about making an airtight case for Bitcoin as an asset and a force for good. Thankfully you can find plenty of videos and articles elsewhere that make robust arguments to that effect.

"Bitcoin gives you the ability to adopt that traditional lifestyle" is a complete non sequitur, and that lax logic is throughout many people who too loosely, blindly believe in Bitcoin - attributes values like a strong family unit to it, but that aren't inherent to it nor additive by it; it's fascinating to observe from the "outside." There will be a valuable blockchain solution that uses voluntary adoption for its demand/uptake, rather than a greed/for-profit motive driving adoption and demand - leaving that latest adopters holding more of the bag.

You’re kind of contradicting yourself. Your logic is just as bad as the people you’re criticizing. What is not voluntary about the free market deciding to adopt something that is built better than the current system for capital preservation and returns? The current system is by definition, not voluntary. Bitcoin is 100% voluntary.
