Raising my Border Collie Puppy up to 6 Months

That makes my heart so warm! I never planned on a border collie but a heart felt story leaned me to them and I haven’t turned around since! They sure can nuzzle their way into our hearts

@@TheExploringK9s Are they as hyperactive as people tend to say? I'm planning on getting one and i want to train him well, not neglect him. But i see people typing if he doesnt get 2+ hours of daily mental physical excercise they get destructive, even aggressive etc. As i said i dont plan to neglect him or anything. But are they hard to manage compared to other dogs? Would really appreciate a reply

@@CroLukas It can be exaggerated as it tends people get poorly bred ones and on top pair it with little to no training, which can most definitely leave you with a very busy dog on the go 24/7! A lot goes into the breeder you get from, I search for a breeder who produces a off switch, doesn’t breed neurotic dogs (aka dogs who can get very over stimulated, want to stay busy, highly sensitive to motion/anything, etc) and overall breeds a nice balance of a dog who will turn on and go when you want but will relax when you don’t want to do anything (with the help of some training of course) but personally the right breeder and trainer they are so biddable and fun but also so easy going! Now I won’t keep my dog in the house with no training or exercise for a week, but if there’s a few days that are rainy or bad weather...my dogs will overall be fine and relax with the right structure like any other dog. I provide training and some sort of exercise relatively frequently though as I have the ability, time, and it makes me feel good trying to meet needs that they might not *always* necessarily need! But even my breeder will say, they can go compete, but also lay in the house all day and relax! So just look for a breeder where you can meet the dogs, are ethical and produce a temperament you like, look up some “place” videos and etc for training (which I’ll be starting a training series on here by the latest of within the month of February so feel free to subscribe to use that for help) but yeah! It’s definitely manageable and yes they can be a lot but with the right circumstances you can enjoy them just like any other breed!

I remember my border collie ran away for from a storm and never came back for 2 months but we found her luckily😬

Awwe, I am getting mine in two weeks when he will be 8 weeks old too, its a black and white border collie mix with bull cattle pup.

I’m so grateful for them fitting my lifestyle and being able to dedicate as much time and etc! Lovely breed to bond with 💛 thank you!

That is so incredible you’ve been able to experience a border collie your whole life, sounds like a dream! ☺️ they are not for everyone but when they are for you, they are just such a special heart grabbing breed! Definitely not going the rest of my life without one again! I am sorry to hear about the pups you grew up with 🥺 sound like they had the best long joyful lives though! @@Karalykins I believe Border collies are the smartest but GSD’s along with others like the Australian Shepard and Poodle are rated very intelligent

Enjoy the puppyhood while you can, they can be a handful but the breed is just a very driven high energy breed, something to understand and learn to love vs getting stressed out or etc! she was house trained in 2 weeks also very smart

she had insulin in morning breaksfast an dinner time insulin very lean diet it was soo sad to see her weight loss an was never evr over weight ...love them ,hug them for me an say Abby from facebook said hello
