@@zash1233 yeah at a certain point your trauma doesn't allow you to be petty. I feel bad for lapis but characters and the show don't really call her out for her bad behavior its like oh poor lapis. Peridot took a long time to be forgiven and accepted while lapis taking the world ocean and almost drowning others isn't really held against her.
she never had a family or a place to call hers except for homeworld but she was essentially a slave there, so i understand why she would take the only thing she ever had with her
(2:28 she half-exclaims, with the change in eyes that means someone's getting emotional) 5:22 though there was the moment of "I can just...help you online?" 7:12 I mean there was an earlier time - around the time she was trying to subtly resist with the "we can't leave because of this, and our meep morps, but the morps need the barn" - like time between the end of the call and the raising of the barn
i think its time that you know unless you already do. This show was cancelled by CN this season, so after the next couple episodes the show gets VERY fast paced and a little washy, its still incredible, but be ready for a complete tonal shift in a few eps
I am sympathetic towards lapis but honestly she does get frustrating. At a certain point your trauma doesn't excuse everything and shouldn't allow you constant petty behavior. Characters and the show don't really call her out for her bad behavior its like oh poor lapis you can treat anyone how you want. Peridot took a long time to be forgiven and accepted while lapis taking the world ocean and almost drowning others isn't really held against her for example.
Umm well she did feel bad about her actions(as she mentioned in the episode alone at sea) so Idk what you're getting at. I understand your point about not using trauma to excuse poor behavior but unless you've dealt with true trauma then you are in no position to criticize anyone else on how they are/aren't handling it. This is coming from someone who has been through a lot of personal trauma.
@@macaronifanatic7287 I've dealt with true trauma but tried my hardest not to put on others and it still isn't an excuse to not get called about because you can't make the world worse for others because of how it is for you. The problem with Lapis is that it's a constant thing of hurting others and people not really holding her to it. Pearl also has a lot and what happened when she went too far is garnet being angry and not wanting to speak to her, stuff like that doesn't happen to lapis.
@@macaronifanatic7287 let me put it this way as well. I do feel for lapis. I even ship her with peridot. That being said, a character being toxic in every one of their appearances and just saying they went through something incredibly awful it's ok and not being held accountable for it like other characters. While they're also not supposed to be a villain is bound to work on some people's nerves.
@@FreshZCORDnot a good comparasiom when lapis took the ocean to get home while peridot would've gladly destroyed the world by letting cluster emerge. One was a war criminal the other was just a war prisoner.
The post-traumatic stress that it represents lapiz it's truly genuine, at the time people were very upset by his actions but now that there is less ignorance regarding emotional education, you can see how incredible the way a child's show can represent such a big issue in such a amazing way
