Reading this in the manga was one of those most memorable chapters for me of the entire story, the feels hit me like a firetruck. I'm usually more emotional watching the anime adaptation instead of reading it, but the lack of any sort of build up like there is in the anime and just turning the page to that beautiful double page spread brought me to tears.

Actually i get this in the comment section of some content of Ohara that stated: Ussop used to lie for his own survival and escaping his death (most of them), but here he witness the mink that lie for other survival and reaching their death, so that's how he can't believe it

not entirely accurate that usopp lied for his own survival and such. But remember what made the strawhats LIKE Usopp and help him in Syrup Island? He was willing to fight the Black Cat Pirates alone so his lie would stay true. that no pirates would enter the island. This is the same energy.

Sometimes I try to tell people why they should watch One Piece and it's for moments like this. You just CAN NOT explain all the world building and lore to make this make sense to someone. You just have to experience it and with all the knowledge of everything leading up to this moment....just chills when he says "Raizo-dono is safe."

One of my favorite parts of this scene (and there were many) was Luffy's reaction at the end. He went from complete shock to complete understanding and acceptance in 1 second. He was like " they just went through hell to protect one person, they're crazy," Then he was like "oh, they were protecting a friend and would NEVER let a friend down, understandable." Loved it.

When you first see this scene, it seems kinda unbelievable that the minks could be so loyal, but then once you see the Oden flashbacks, it all makes sense. Of course they would be, after what Oden did for them.

When they sat down I thought neko and inu would stay there until straw hats explain all the situation so they can keep their confidence and friendship. When they started crying I thought they will ask if Raizo was real there revealing that they already know him and was his friend like saying "Raizo-dono is here?". When they said "Raizo-dono is SAFE" I started screaming and crying like a crazy. Easily top 3 plot twists of anime history!

The very fact that hundreds of thousands of them were prepared to die and let their 1000 year old city be destroyed before they would sell out someone they saw as a friend, who isn't even the same species as them, is what made this twist really deep. I really liked Luffy's expression here too, you can see how deep he respects them and how happy it makes him, because they display his favorite qualities in people right then and there.

The problem with one piece is that despite being a legendary anime it has a really slow start, things and characters really take a lot of time to develop. But once it's all done you're in for a ride.

@@sandracurielalonso1609 the thing is that you shouldn't, people usually watch shows that are literally emptier and more stupid than the first 100 episodes of one piece (the only thing that i didn't like actually was don krieg vs luffy). It is just that the most of people want to see bleach/KnY "coolness" of fighting instead of paying attention to a really good storytelling and worldbuilding. They prefer the equivalent of mc donalds in the world of anime.
