I just watched several reviews of this game, and Jon wins 1st place for the most thorough, well-organized review, as usual. I got the information I needed to make purchasing decisions. I can understand why Jon isn't doing full reviews anymore, and I am enjoying his impressions as well, but I just want to recognize him for the level of excellence that his reviews attained.

C. W. Why isn’t he doing reviews anymore? And did you decide to purchase this game after all?

@@guillermoz4914 He stopped in June 2018 (his discussion is in his vlog from that time). In short, he found doing them unpleasant, they affected what games he played, and he wanted to give more attention to possibly working with publishers. He now does more full play throughs, impressions, and general vlogs. I didn't buy Rajas yet. I am new to board gaming and can only afford about 10 games a year, so I have a really long list of what I would like to buy. A game has to be outstanding for me to buy it, and Rajas doesn't appear to be that. If I get a chance to play it and like it, I might still buy it, but it won't make the cut for this year.

Too bad you don't do reviews anymore Jon, By far the most informative and concise reviews about boardgames. I've been watching board game reviewers for several years and you are the best. Hope all is well.

I'm glad you enjoyed them :) I worked hard to make them as good as they where, unfortunately I just didn't actually enjoy making them.

8:15 You should say, "Whenever your token *meets* or exceeds..." Great overview, thanks for the video!

On your neutral #2 “out of gas”. It’s true that this can happen to new players, but I’ve played this a bunch now with several experienced players and we hardly ever use the spots to get dice or duplicate dice. If you play your workers right, you can get bonus dice from the different tracks, from your estate or from the nobles in the palace. This is a game you can get better at in just a play or two, and then it truly shines.

Agreed. I ran out right at the end of the first game I played, and ended up having to reload as the person who taught the game ended up winning that round.

I fully agree that as you get better this will happen less and that's why I had it listed as a Neutral.

Have played all player counts. I would say 2 players = Best, 3 players = Great, 4 players = Good. This one really surprised me as I was not expecting much. Very good use of dice.

I feel very ambivalent about this game - the victory condition is quite clever and refreshing(comparing to the other euro "gather as much points as possible" games) and creates interesting dynamics, creating all these little combos and trying to maximize your gains through using as little single actions as possible has to be satisfying, same goes with managing your village - the road connections resemble me of Keyflower, although it's not as deep as in that game. Last but not least, it seems rather light and easy to grasp(which is a very important aspect for me recently, as I want to get more and more people into gaming), while creating an immersion of pleasant worker placement & dice management experience. Yet, on the other hand, I can't help but feel that some opportunities had been wasted. Dice colors don't really matter THAT much, given that they're significant only when picking tiles and in other cases you basically don't care what one you spend. They could've expanded upon that idea a little bit. Secondly, I completely agree with your point concerning variability. Why are all the tiles basically the same? It's another element that hasn't been fully utilized in my opinion. Maybe that was the intention - not to overcomplitate a game which was intended to be fairly simple, but then if you include an advanced variant then why not put an other version of the tile in the reverse with some added ability, bonuses etc. so that there's more depth in choosing right tiles for the purpose of your strategy? Overall, it seems like a very enjoyable game that could've been better. I'll wait for an expansion to come and then maybe pick it up, but for now I pass - it does not outstand that much at this very point. Still - these are only my assumptions as I'm yet to play the game and I may be very wrong 'bout all of I've said. I'd love to give it a try.

Have to agree with the tiles after just a couple of plays they get very stale which is my only complaint to the game. Really like the game but would love an expansion to add more unique tiles to the game

At timestamp ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XOOmBqdX5-8.html you mention that the die has to be equal to the number of markets, but the rules says "(...) give up one die. Then you may score for up to a maximum of as many markets of one kind of good as corresponds to the value of the die."

Have you played with the randomized river spots variant? Definitely adds variability
@JonGetsGames
@JonGetsGames 6 лет назад
I haven't had the opportunity, no. I would like to at some point and I imagine it will shake things up abit but the biggest variability downside to the game is in the homogeneity of the tiles I think, the river itself has felt fine from game to game so far
