Listed as an intangible cultural heritage site by UNESCO, Patodi is home to over 200 families of the Jeengar Community who have mastered the art of crafting traditional Rajasthani Jootis.
These skilled artisans, especially the women, have honed their embroidery techniques over generations, creating beautiful designs on leather footwear known as Marwadi Jooti or Mojari.
Despite their talent and dedication, the handicraft business in Patodi is facing challenges and is in need of support from the government to survive.
Every year, the Tourism Department of Rajasthan and UNESCO organize a handicrafts exhibition in Patodi to showcase and promote the unique cultural heritage of the embroidered Rajasthani Jooti.
