Raji Nintendo Switch Review - Keep or Refund? 

Update 1: The game is quite short in length at approximately 5-6 hours. Obviously there is no refund system on the Switch, but in this series we play the first two hours of a game to see if we would get a refund should such a system exist. I'm gonna grab this largely because I want to show support for the studio, and I want more games based around ancient Indian history/mythology. I've been clamoring for an RPG style game set in the story of Mahabharat!

You had me at Dante’s Inferno! Plus I feel India and it’s mythology are underutilized in games. IMO

I must confess I didn't wait for a review, because i was sold on it during the Indie world Direct : music, ambiance, design, gameplay... It's rare I buy a game at this price (more than 20€) without reading or viewing a review... but I jumped into it ... and so far so good... but it's always nice to see I didn't made a mistake :-) Love the indian vibes of this game, a nice change from the 1001 nights (but still, I , as many others, would like a new Prince of Persia)

This is indias first mainstream videogame ,,, so kudos

The thing I like the most on the games with art style and details about ones country is when people from that said country work on it so we can get genuine info and not interpretation or fragments. Btw...just placed the order on Amazon for AC:NH...so...I wanna see if that will charm me as it did with so much people. Cheers lads !

I really like this game. The core is good but it's a little rough around the edges. Overall I think visuals are stunning, the combat is excellent while platforming is competent. Could use a little more meat like more items and NPCs and intractable environments, but like I said, I think the core is solid.

I dropped a quick holy s comment after seeing your title here because I just bought the game without seeing a review first. It dropped unannounced and someone said it gave them an early GOW vibe. My style of game for certain and the visuals were beautiful at a quick glance. As soon as I started playing it didnt give me the same GOW vibe. Rather an early POP vibe. Which I was just as happy with. I was having trouble with controls. Some trouble hitting the right spot for a pole attack. That got better. The more I play the more beautiful the game looks and plays. I really dont regret the price at all. Like my first boss said told me, If a customer complains about the price you tell 'em the product is so good it would be a bargain at twice the price. Cheers everyone.

I like this format for you guys being able to react a bit quicker to indi games comming out of nowhere, not having to go through the hoops of minutely rating every aspect of it and giving it a bunch of abstract numbers for those ratings.

I love the game so far. The graphics, music, voice acting and story are very engaging. My only complaint is that on the handheld mode, I can't see the legend on the screen that describes what the buttons are used for (i.e. where you select the abilities of the weapon).

Was already interested in this game when they initially launched their Kickstarter. Backed it, but the Kickstarter was cancelled later due to lack of pledges. Am so happy that the game managed to get sponsored and completed.

Hey, I'd be honest, this game is at world class effort, I am sure this game will inspire more world class games from India. Kudos to the Indian studio. Well done!!

The game is epic, and so is the backstory of the game design. Must check that as well. Very proud of this game, it sets a benchmark for future mainstream game development in India. Great review video btw (end credits 👌)

I actually studied this kind of puppet theater it is called wayang (in its indonesian form) and is part of a series of old cultural arts from asian countries. Totally cool that they included this. I love it when games add a cultural point in the story

Yeah I’m pretty happy with this one. I had to restart it a few times just to see that beautiful opening again. I have had only one freeze so far and that was my fault I suppose for going to the home screen too many times (my wife kept asking me RL questions, lol)

I really love these new videos. Great job guys! As an Indian I was really hoping this game would be good. I'm happy to see how good Raji is (despite the issues you rightfully pointed out)and I can't wait to see what else comes out of India.

Before even watching the video I'll tell you it's a keep. I bought it the minute it launched after seeing the presentation and it's actually really good!

Why is such little love given to games based off Mythology? There are so many cool world mythologies with rich lore and stories but so few video games based on them. The only ones which get some love are Greek and Norse, but even they are so sparse. Would be awesome to see more games on Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabian, Egyptian, Aztec/Mayan mythologies - and I'm sure there are other rich mythologies which I haven't even listed. This is a step in the right direction though, as is Ubisoft's Immortals and the mythology GOAT God of War which is still going strong.

The story and atmosphere of this game is fantastic. I have a minor grip with the combat, however. When facing > 3 enemies at a time, they are constantly interrupting my attacks and a lot of the time I can’t get an attack off with being interrupted to the point that I die. It’s frustrating to say the least.

I thought this looked really great on Steam. I was planning on picking it up.

Reminds you of Dante's Inferno's gameplay? You meant to say God of War, right? ;) Been waiting for this game ever since it was revealed on PS4. Nice to hear thoughts on Switch though. As someone of Indian descent, there aren't as many video games that cover Hindu mythology, so this game seemed to scratch that itch a bit. Not sure about the constant narration though.

I just bought it not gonna lie I'm hooked im glad I bought it. The story is awesome the combat is dope . Just buy it you won't regret it.

EDIT - The title has been changed from “shall I get a refund” to “keep or refund”. From the original title -> I personally think the title sets too much of a negative tone. The e shop is full of trash but this small, unique indie game isn’t trash and if I made this game I’d be absolutely gutted with that title to showcase to your number of subscribers. Good intent or not, to an generation who, lets be honest, skip most videos content and don’t watch to the end, this would appear like you want to refund the game. The e shop won’t clean its act up if channels speak up, so the title ends up bashing the game to people who don’t watch it all, which could be hundreds or even thousands.

Also, that style of puppet is called Wayang or Wayang Kulit in Indonesia. I'm not sure what it would be called in India.

Loving this new series. It's just enough info to get a good taste of the game, and I love the extra variety it will add to the channel. As for Raji, I'm super interested in this game. Indian culture just doesn't seem to be very represented in games, and I'd love to get lost in this atmosphere and music. I would like a bit of a graphical update before I buy though, or a physical release.

I would play this game. I can tell from the lore it adds and the story seams also very good. Then you add that it is India and this is the first time iv'e seen a Hindu game!

The story and gameplay are so captivating. I loved the game.

Starting off with the Trishula... Yeesh. How would you even upgrade from there? Glue on the Infinity Gems? Still, this looks like something I might want to pick up after I get a few games in my backlog cleared up.

Really lived that time frame when Dante's Inferno came out. We got Bayonetta, Dark Siders, and Dante's Inderno all at the same time and they were amazing. Loved how they each had a slightly different style so switching between then didn't feel repetitive even though they were all action games.

*Fun fact: Thid indie game is made by just 7 people and it's their first AA game. Also the main developer "Shruti" had to sell her house to support this game's development and prevent it from getting cancelled.*

I played this a little more than three hours today. At some point the framerate drops did become rather annoying as well as some of the enemies being a real pain but overall I have a lot of fun with it so I wouldn't refund it either. If someone is on the fence with this one I'd still say wait for a patch or at least a full review with more info on the whole game.

This just makes me want a sands of time remaster

I think it's worth it. The combat is actually more varied then I expected and the world is beatiful. Only complaint I have right now is the world can feel a bit empty at times but I'm not done yet, only a few hours in. So we'll see.

I'm really interested in this but £25 and it's only 5 hours long, there are other games in that price range that I'd be more tempted to get. This will be another one on the wishlist.

The music, the cutscenes and the environmental design is PHONEMENAL in this game. The last 30 minutes gave me so much goosebumps. Especially the last location is incredible. The combat and the voice acting can be repetitive at times, but who cares. This is a feast of Indian mythology.

I checked the store price here in the UK and it seems to be £20 at the moment, not sure why though. (Ah, 11% discount until the 30th of August!)

One of the developers of this game had to sale her house to fund this game... Developing quality games in india is very difficult, despite having the rich source material. Its mainly due to funding issues..

That combat system looks pretty interesting combining the parkour with your attacks, surprised that hasn't been done often enough for me to remember another game like that. Not having to play your cookie cutter white bread gruff guy you used to get in games left and right during the 360 era is a plus too.

I'm really tired of Japan, Mideval Europe, and Urban America being the almost always settings for games. I really want more settings like Raji.

1:28 Prince of Persia the Sands of time is actually in the PS2 era, one of my first and favorite games

buying this game on the basis of supporting the devs is not clemency but an investment for game made on such a tight budget it is fabulous, ofc devs didnt have any supporters and are as new as they can be, the art is something that we cant ignore. If this game is successful we can expect much better games from the studio with much higher quality.

I picked this up and I'm a little on the fence after 2 hours. The world seemed pretty empty and the platforming kinda tedious but the combat was fun. Very curious to hear your thoughts🤔💭
