Full Race report from RAK Half Marathon, February 9, 2018. Seven men broke 60:00. For the first time two women broke 65:00, four women broke 66:00, seven women broke 67:00, nine women broke 68:00 and 11 women broke 69:00!
Re Women's race. I understand the reasons why race organisers would employ male pacemakers in a women's only race. Essentially to make sure the pace is fast, giving greater kudos to their race. But in this race there were two major things wrong: Male pacemakers should NOT be allowed to pace them all the way to the finish. It is a WOMEN'S race and as such the women must be allowed to battle it out, at least in the last third of the race. Secondly, having race organisers provide pacemakers is one thing. But to allow individual women to have their own private pacemaker in a women only race, just to look after that woman alone, is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The male acts as wind block for their woman only, provides close pacing essentially only for their charge. Remember, this was not an open race with men and women competing together. It was a women only race. So, where was the part of women only racing against each other. That second place finisher was disadvantaged strongly by not having her own pacemaker. This whole pacing for women (by use of male pacemakers and private pacemakers) situation needs to be sorted out quickly
Hi, I understand your point of view and agree about the "unfair" story between the girls. I just never understood this "women only" stuff, very anglo-saxon way of thinking, as we see it in british and american races, and "anglo-saxon influenced" countries (as all these arab petrol countries were there are so many white english speaking people) should not exist! Else, why not a "black only" race and then a white only race, or a "young only" and "old only" race, or a "tall only" and "short only" race (I'm less than 1m70 and making categories with age and with sex is no more fair than body height!). I mean, there is a podium, cup and presents for the 3 firsts older than 40, 50, 60, 70, etc even in small local races in and around my city, both for men and women. I mean, other sports have sex/weight categories (judo as example) but not age. I mean, many women have physical skills higher than I do for running, many older people have physical skills higher than I do. Maybe everybody shoud compete in a same only category then, at least running races should not separate women and men in the field (separate in victory/podium ok everybody can understand that), this would just erase the topic of pacers for women only races, the double world record (women only record and "with everybody" record) that is just lame to exist. Else, I will request for racing different distance regarding leg lenght haha, no way a 1m85 person completing the same distance in the same time as I do has acheived as well (or bad) as I did.
I disagree white people find arguments. Look these girls have to run this pace over the 21ks regardless if they are paced or not. I have said many times white anglo athletes can not compete witrh these African runners they are biomechanically more efficient.

Is Mary Keitany, the runner that couldn't keep up with, that gorgeous runner who yelled, "FUCK YEAH!," before crossing the finish line and winning the NYC marathon?
@@vdv1385 That is Hugh Jones, General Secretary of AIMS and course measurer for the race. He was riding the 'blue line' / shortest possible distance for the runners to follow as, unlike London Marathon etc there was no option to paint the line on the road.
