Colin McRae and Gilles Panizzi were my two favorite drivers back then. Two absolute characters and absolute legends. Loved their passion and emotion. RIP Colin.
@@abdzire_94 disagree, Sardegna has had some good events, did you even see the rally in 2018 when neuville edged Ogier on the final stage, and last year when Tanak lost the win just a few kms from the finish?
Man, I really love the amazing sound of the engine on those Peugeot 206's, especially in the onboard footage. And those were among the best & most reliably built rally cars in the WRC at the time!
They won 3 manufacturers titles in a row with it, absolutely dominated 2002, pretty reliable overall disregarding a few problems that could have happened to anyone at that point, not to say they won both titles in their first full season
@@potatogirlcultist19Duval should have stayed at Ford. Team was confident in him and was willing to push him. Great base and could learn alot from Gronholm who would join later. Pairing with Loeb whilst you are still getting grips with WRC was never going to be a good idea
Ay don't get too excited. He's just another French tarmac specialist like Panizzi or Bugalski. He's not gonna win 9 world championships or anything like that.
24:21 - I love this image of Sainz. It depicts his silent seniority over the younger, less-experienced drivers. It's like a father inspecting and scrutinising the results (and mistakes) of those who don't yet know any better.
-Mitshubishi: Hey, we should make our new WRC Car based on the shitty street version that we only sell in Japan. -Ralliart: But you have the brand new EVO VII. The logical idea would be to use it, like Sub... -Mitshubishi: SHUT UP you English muppet. We'll do it that way because we want it 😡 Makkinen: Subaru is better😎
The crash that bulgaski had to end his rally on board is the exact same footage he had in the previous stage just on board showing his face because he seems to be going way too fast for a car in the condition that showed when he came out of the tunnel. Just watch both crashes and youll see its exactly the same. I'm pretty sure he probs just had the car stop on him or they decided to not show it
A 52 minute highlights package with only 12 and a half minutes of external footage of the WRC cars in action. The WRC was dogged by poor TV production for too long.
Its funny that the crowd control was still minimal, one of the reasons why the group B ended. These cars were much faster than group B cars, it was an shamefull end. RIP Henkka, Sergio, Attilio and Michel Wyder.
@@Chr.Monika6469 If you mean limiter on speed then yes, Hannu Mikkola said his S1 EVO 2 was limited to 220 kms. But group B stage times were beaten in 1990.
Have no idea why Mitsubishi changed to 7. They were shite. 6.5 or 6 were performing and clearly Makkinen is on top of that car. The change to new car is the only reason why he lost in 01. Embarassing.
They decided since fia never banned the use of group a cars in 97 to just keep developing the Lancer rather than developing a whole new car. This worked until 2001. They were the only team that had a group a car so fia forced them to use a wrc car by the end of 2001.The started developing the Lancer wrc very late though (it was basically the Evo 6,5 with a different bodyshell) and by the time the San Remo rally came the had to debut it. But due to the lack of testing the car was very heavy and it had transmission problems.
