Been waiting for someone to do a video like this. Going through a rally phase myself right now and have got a couple of xv-01’s and the WR8. Got my sights set on the Puma next. Awesome content! 🙌🏻
@89Patrick It does but you will need to do some modifications. I have a separate video just on the Puma discussing this and specifics centered around the Puma. Check it out if you get a chance.
Excellent video, thank you. I do wish you could have had the new Kyosho FZ02-R included, but it is very new and also a 1:10, so it would probably be a little too small.
I'm 8 minutes in but that chassis on the hpi hmmm looks like we have ringer in the mix lol awesome I see alot I like..im thinking of a rally purchase in February
@Zerograv77 Yup, done that. Check this video out if get a chance or have not seen it already ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v6mb-nzzySw.html
Wow, this is a great shoot-out, I will be following the series. All are great looking Rally Cars, glad you swapped out the esc for the M48S to make it fair. I can't wait to see the running footage of all three. But you are correct as far as scale-ness is the Cen Racing Puma, they hit the scale look on the head. it looks to good to run
@sparetimerc No shelf queens😆 The Puma is a handful too. The quickest in the bunch and the best touring car out the bunch. I may have leaked something there😉
Cracking vid mate. Can’t wait to see the next ones. Very interesting. Everything u said was spot on and fair. It’s annoying there aren’t any upgrades for the puma, all u can do is replace like for like if something breaks. The tires are great on road, they aren’t very good off road. And the size of the wheels and tires are very strange so u can’t change them to something more suitable. Sposed to b a rally car but it only really likes tarmac. It does look amazing tho and it’s pretty fast.
@tidyt3656 Thanks man! I've erased my response three times, trying not to give anything away before the other vids🤣 I'll say this totally agree, the hop ups has been slow for CEN. Thought there would be some hop up parts at this point. Looks like they are starting another campaign blitz, hopefully that means hop ups.
@danmatos6553 I wouldn't. It's out of class. Smaller and it's brushed. It's more inline with the Tamiya type rally's. That's not a bad thing but I feel it falls closer to the purest of rally RC's.
@@danmatos6553 You find that most purest, feel the 10 scale class provide the most scale realism when it comes to proportions of the shell and closer to scale speeds. They feel most of the bigger RC's are too fast or lose the correct proportions. I can see their point but some times you like what you like, right. But for your comparison if you saw them in person you would understand what I'm saying. Maybe not this drastic but it's like comparing a Traxxas 4tec to a Traxxas XO1.
I would like to know how the Hobao Rally GT stacks up against these 3 and what about the Traxxas Rally ?? These are both similar prices to what you have here 😉👍
@@ReadySetRC I don't know much about the Traxxas but the Hobao seems to be the only true 1/8 car of the bunch , it has 17mm shocks , 4mm shock shafts , 17 mm hubs and is geared for 6s although the rtr is 4s, The chassis is that of a 1/8 buggy and is a bit bigger and wider than these cars , not much but a bit , the wheelbase is 329mm. These other cars are running 12mm shock bodies with 3mm shafts and I think 12mm hubs except the Traxxas which is a big car and true 1/8 also
Yo! Great comparison video here. So I broke the belcrank on my Puma, and found 3rd party 7075 aluminium parts for it from a decent looking company. I've found spares for my WR8 however I had to scour the interwebs... Purchased from US all the way to the UK($$$$). I'm in eastern Canada. I sourced some spares for WR8 from HRP also. Looking forward to the rest of your series here! Cheers!
B4 I actually see this vid, I’m hoping the CEN wins as that’s wot I have 👍🏻 I got it in the uk for £400. The radio/controller was awful. I swapped it out for a dumbo with a gyro
@tidyt3656 We'll have to see🤔 That's a nice option for the controller. Wish CEN would stop pushing these controllers and work something out with Dumbo RC. I have a handful of CEN's and every last one has this controller.
@@ReadySetRC yep. I guess they do that to try keep the cost down? Having said that, dumbo’s are so cheap ur right they should just work out a deal with them. I was so disappointed with the radio I’ve seen better ones with some toys. I had to change out the receiver box tho as it wasnt tall enuff to house the receiver with the gyro.
AWESOME VIDEO.!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this for us. Please stay safe out there mate & best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
I have the cen and hpi. The puma body and material quality are top notch but the hpi handles miles better. Charisma really needs to release the sway bar and center diff options asap.
@@draginzen The HPI I've owned since the rerelease, it's held up well but I did get it with a minor crack in it. The Puma, no issues so far. Decals were applied fairly well. Some needed a little pressing but not bad at all.
I own both WR8 and Puma and fully second the statement. The WR8 handles so much better. I also broke the bell crank on the Puma... If Cen doesn't offer some upgrades I would definitely recommend to stick to the WR8.
I'm actually curious about this too. I have a Fiesta upgraded to brushless running 3S along with upgraded steering , servo, and a few other bits. I'd guess I'm into it for around the same price as the CEN. I've been looking for a similar vehicle to race it against and the CEN is my leading candidate though I think I'll need rally blocks Interesting that the Traxxas 1/10 is the same size or larger vs many 1/8 scale
@@wild.oscillator Some good comparisons to the Traxxas Rally is going to be the Maverick QuantumRX Rally and ZD Racing Rally. Other than they are both brushless, size wise they matchup perfectly in size.
@dakk_s3994 For what you get, it's going to be the HPI WR8. To get the Carisma to the level of the HPI, it's going to cost more than the HPI. The Cen is already at that price and still needs some $$ adjustments to get it to the HPI. BUt if you are trying to drive it scale the Carisma is a solid choice.
