In the highly-anticipated return of two iconic characters, the arch-rivals from the legendary "Karate Kid" film series reunite over 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Now living in the affluent hills of Encino, Daniel LaRusso leads an enviable life with his beautiful family, while running a successful string of car dealerships throughout the valley. Meanwhile, his high school adversary, Johnny Lawrence, whose life has taken a rocky turn, seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo. Their lives inevitably become intertwined and the rivalry is reignited, setting forth the next generation of “karate kids” in "Cobra Kai," a RU-vid Red Original Series. Am I the only one who would like to see Johnny and Daniel come together. I cannot help but think the best Karate teachings would come from a combination of both Miyagi and Cobra styles blended. And there is something likable about Johnny....I find myself rooting for him to better himself.

William Zabka may have spent the last thirty years feeling that epic kick to the face but here his performance and the dynamic of his character and those of his students is certain to bring him full circle and I believe his career will be legendarily revamped. William's life will never be the same again after his remarkable performance in this series and oh, what's that? Do I hear Hollywood beating his door down every day for years to come after this? Oh, I think so. William will literally be on fire in Hollywood for years and years after this once in a lifetime performance he gave at the last possible moment in his life. God Speed William. You are about to go on the ride of your life thanks to this part. We have yet to see the best of him but with the future wide open we shouldn't be surpised at the amazing performances yet to come from him as Hollywood comes knocking at will keep on knocking for a long time. Great Job "Johnny".

Agreed. A glance at IMDB and you can see he definitely has been typecast and while he's worked, it doesn't seem like he's gotten his due as an actor and hopefully this will change that.

well I hope so but you never know. sometimes hollywood isn't about good acting, it's about who you know and getting the break/call. maybe this is zabka's break to get into even bigger roles movies. karate kid is more of a cult classic. but i'm hoping this revival, Cobra Kai, brings the karate kid franchise mainstream for all audiences, not just for nostalgic value.

A show based on a film decades old bringing back the same actors with a heavy sprinkling of comedy and corny nostalgia - could have been awful and a huge risk to potentially spoil the audiences idea of the story - BUT IT WORKSSSSS - absolutely phenomenal - this sets the standard in tv shows from this day forward. STILL crushing on Billy Zapka after 34 years heheeeeeeeeeeeeeee......1984 was such a cool time. The 80s in general were the BEST....so glad i had the experience. I was 12 when watched Karate Kid back in the DAY. Hope Cobra Kai contingent do promotional Tours for fans, and put New Zealand on the list to visit.

I watched the first two episodes, joined RU-vid Red and watched all of the other episodes on the same night. For someone who is constantly busy to sit for that long and watch it from start to finish is a testament to how fantastic it is! No joke I shed some tears during my binge watching of this! WOW! This show was so awesome... Watching it all in one sitting like I did while it took me very long! I'm happy I devoted my night to it because the original 3 movies are such a big part of my childhood, I couldn't wait for this to happen, and been waiting since I was a kid! Oh, and the best part of it all is how good this came out!!!!!!!! This is exactly what I wanted to see!!! OMG! They nailed it so awesome! Thank you! Cannot wait for season 2!!!!!! OMG That ending... LOVE IT!

A true masterpiece, loved every single second of cobra kai. Such nostalgia i love when something from my childhood is done right & cobra kai made me feel like a kid in 1984 all over again. I'd love to see a 2nd season, i mean c'mon they have to make it. The gate was left wide open for it. I'd love to see some more cameo appearences from not only Ellie or kumiko but especially from Johnnies old buddies from the 80's cobra kai such as Dutch, Bobby, Jimmy & the bodybag guy which i based my YT handle over a year ago & is now finally relevant hahehahe

I remember Billy Zabka in "The Equalizer." It was one of my favorite shows back in the 80's. I imagine if I saw it now it would be a bit cornier than I remember it, but I went ahead and ordered it from Netflix, anyway, just because of this new Cobra Kai series.

Zabka is an amazing actor in this show. He really makes the show. Ralph kinda plays the same cheesy nice guy, but we all love a good anti-hero, right? We all love a redemption story. We all love a flawed hero. This is why the new Star Wars failed. Nobody cared that the hero was a female. However, she was so perfect, unstoppable, and defeated the main antagonist in the first movie, so we never worried about her. There wasn’t much to overcome, which tied their hands in the last movie.....hence, it was bad.

A great show full of values and memories. A i was a teenager when i saw kk1. Ralph Macchio is as good karate figther as always...but show is great. William Zabka is a great actor show of these mix of feelings in his rol of sensei. I love the serie. Hope has a long life. And his answer would have been very interesting too because I've learned from other interviews that he continued training with Pat Johnson and became a green belt. And was able to work with some of the best martial artists at the time on a movie he did.

Andrew Hedrick No way! That IS Cobra Kai! If you change the philosophy you might as well change the name. Hell, you might as well disband it again. Terrible idea. Now, perhaps Johnny will defect and team up with Daniel while Kreese takes Cobra Kai back. I don’t know. But you can’t change Cobra Kai’s philosophy. That would be ridiculous.

steelerfreak1977 Cobra kai, and thus the Karate Johnny learned, is not the same mentally or even compatible philosophically with the kata Daniel was taught by Miyagi. Seeing one of your students dislocate your son's shoulder because of what you taught them is a strong impetus to change

Andrew Hedrick The whole point is that Cobra Kai is diametrically opposed to Miyagi Do in their teachings. If Cobra Kai changes its philosophy it’s no longer Cobra Kai. That would never work.

steelerfreak1977 The Way of The Fist has three core tenants. Reassessing one of them inst going to cause a collapse of the ideology fostered by Johnny's version of Cobra Kai. "No Mercy" almost got him murdered by his teacher as a teen and it sent a kid he really cares about down the same path he went down, the editing of the last episode heavily implies that Cobra Kai is going to learn a lesson about honor in winning, and leave the days of No Mercy behind. Johnny even told Miguel "win clean", the complete opposite of John Kreese's "sweep the leg"

Andrew Hedrick yes I get that. Maybe Johnny will leave Cobra Kai, but you can’t change those tenets. They are what make Cobra Kai what it is.

Its funny how they mentioned Fuller House, when the kid playing Johnny's son is in Fuller House. All I can say is that there BETTER be a season 2, because I LOVED this season! I got You Tube Red just for this series.

I cannot express enough how much I LOVE Cobra Kai. I love the different perspective from Johnny about what happened and Johnny's brutally honest take on things. I binge watched it and want to keep watching over and over. I cannot wait for the next season! It is great to see Johnny and Daniel back again. Two characters I loved. Or one I loved and one I loved to hate.

Jar Jar, Anakin, Wicket, Sy Snootles, Nute Gunray, Boss Nass, Dooku, Fode and Beed, need I go on? Out of six films and a few holiday specials we got an entirely unwatchable prequel trilogy (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) the entire Endor sequence, and holiday specials so bad most have forgotten them entirely. Clone Wars overall was good, which was a huge surprise being set in the prequel era, and that's it. It was over. TFA comes out and it's too much like the original, TLJ comes out and it is too different. The new trilogy has done something the prequels couldn't, kids are interested in Star Wars again, that's a win. Sorry, not sorry, toxic fans are what is killing Star Wars and Disney trying to pander to them is what has made it worse, they listened after TFA and TLJ is exactly what was asked for. Luke Skywalker is the legend fans have always made him out to be and Johnson made sure that can never be taken from him with TLJ, he doesn't suck now. the epilogue of TLJ was every kid in the late 70s, kids playing in the dirt with action figures, making the whiny kid who wanted to go to Toschi station for power converters into something incredible and waving broomsticks around while looking at the stars. it seems a lot of fans didn't enjoy looking into the mirror at the truth behind it all, Rey was disappointed when she did it too. Flip the switch on a cheap flashlight and tell me what comes to mind every time, all the fancy forcefx lightsabers in the world will never change that.

edminister what are you talking about? How did he make Luke a legend? For the audience? As for the ending of the movie we already knew there were more force users than Luke, how was the kid even able to do that? Most people that didn’t like TLJ liked TFA. Are you a Disney employee or something because you posted the same basic thing on another comment about Star Wars on a interview about Cobra Kia

Johnny and Daniel are both flawed characters and no one is exactly the "good guy" in this story, and that's why I love it. Each has clear goals- Johnny wants to restart Kobra Kai so he can turn his life around, help his first student, Miguel, stand up to bullies, and give the rest of his students the self confidence they need to get through life. He also wants to restore Kobra Kai's reputation as a powerhouse after his sensei ran it to the ground. Daniel is TERRIFIED that the Kobra Kai dojo will rehash the teachings of the 80s and the kids might turn into the bullies they signed up to fight against, and does his best to stop it. The introduction of Johnny's son, who ultimately is the secondary antagonist of the story (I don't call him a villain, but he does stand in Johnny's way of achieving his goals) is a great tool to shake up the relationship between Daniel and Johnny. ALMOST everything about this series is perfect... though there is that ending...

@@goodtimemusic1 Season 2, to me, is a bit weaker than Season 1 because you have clear cut bad guys. With Season 1 it was hard to pick a side because both of them weren't 100% right or wrong, but Johnny's students turning into assholes and the Big Bad of the first movie coming back and manipulating both Johnny and his students made a shades of grey story into black and white- Daniel was right, the Miyagi school is superior to Cobra Kai, and the teachings of the school, cranked up to 11 by Kreese and his EEEEEVVVVIIIILLLLL mechinations, have turned the bullied kids of Season 1 into 80s teen comedy bullies themselves.

This show is the real deal. I too thought it was going to be just another nostalgia / down memory lane with a new story. But the way they intertwined the cyber bullying, bullying, body shaming, and our generation's obsession with technology today with Karate, was legit. It's 5am and I'm going to finish the last two episodes.

I watched the first two episodes by myself, but it was so good that I had to wait and watch it with my dad so that we could enjoy it together. It's funny because he had to work the next hour and he would keep walking in the room to see what happened next, always saying "okay, one more". That's how you know you have something special.
