Reposting my video presentation of RVW's Eighth Symphony. The original upload has been spoiled by advertisements added by RU-vid. I hope this repost will remain uninterrupted for at least a few weeks. (The symphony was composed between 1953 and 1955. Sir John Barbirolli, its dedicatee, conducted the Hallé Orchestra in the premiere at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on 2 May 1956. It is the shortest of the composer's nine symphonies.)

It is not overstatement to declare this work of art a masterpiece. I could dissect it and explain why I believe it to be so, but it speaks for itself, infinitely more eloquently than I ever could. This is pure ecstasy.

La simfonia no té títol, només la simfonia número 8 en re menor. Els quatre moviments tampoc no tenen títols. (Google Translate) :)
