This is nice. But I kinda like the Tesla style stereo more. And it's cheaper. Why did you change it? What was wrong with the Tesla style stereo? Please let me know

I currently just purchased a 2017 Ram 1500, I already have the big 8.4 screen and set up in but unfortunately as you know that screen has the old look and not the new with Apple car play, is there something you can upgrade to that for the new media or you have to replace the whole screen?

Not all 1500s from 2017 have this type of bezel. Most have the push button starts and a 110v plug. Also there is no lighter in your location on the video. Just keep in mind not all trucks are exactlylike this one.

Does this add the uconnect auto start for the app too? My ram was suppose to come with it but it never worked. I have the 8.4 with the nav.

I have the 8.4 screen with Uconnect but I guess it's the basic one. I added the factory rear camera thinking it was plug and play but no go! Is it possible to just add rear camera to the OEM radio unit? Or do I need to buy this item?

I’m confused about the whole USB port adapter. Infotainment says they use version one and if you watch their install video it’s a square replacement but had gaps. The one you show is rectangular. Also my storage bin is completely different I have a 2017 Ram 1500 quad cab sport. Do you know the part number for this bin? I want it to look factory like yours. I have a 2017 ram 1500 with the 8.4 but no car play. I do also saw the media box set up that you did but I’m wondering for a overall which set up you would recommend.

Why not get a used / salvage screen and/or bezel for a fraction of the cost?? Then just buy the harnesses and fan controller that you need? This is crazy.

I'm kind of on the fence now whether I should get the Tesla unit or the Uconnect unit. One thing that I heard is that the Chinese Tesla stuff do have some issues with quality and it is hard to get updates for them; if updates are even released. But that screen size is similar to what is in the new 2019 Rams. I wonder if infotainment will come up with a system for getting the 2019 12" screen into a current Ram. Now that I would gladly pay a 1000 USD for.

2017 RAM 1500 NIGHT EDITION. 23,481 miles. "DEALERSHIP WANTS $200.00 TO UPDATE THE RADIO." Not too trusting of the dealer...do they mean the radio or UConnect? They didn't seem too confident and a lot of "not sures". Uconnect says I have two updates (iPhone car play and nav). Dealer says they have 2 updates only they can do. U Connect website says I have one update. Uconnect_VP4,18.45.01-My13-17 I was told we have 3 separate sub systems (U Connect, Maps, and GPS). Dealer said to update the radio 1st, then U Connect then do the maps. They are charging $200 for what they call a Radio update. UConnect said that maps will be updated in July for the 2022 version. The current NAV system won't even find my home that was built in 1960. The version in the truck now is 18.45.01. Version code should change if the dealer actually does the update successfully, correct? Wi-Fi hot spot icon in the truck says" no active subscription. Go to store to "renew". UStore icon just sits and doesn't connect. When you go to the Ustore through the settings it says, "service not available". Any ideas? I hate to spend $200.00 at the dealer when they are not doing any work. What is my order of operation? (1) Radio update, then (2) UConnect update then (3) MAPS update? Can I get the truck to be a wi-fi hotspot? What subscription is this? What turns on the 3G icon on the APP icon? or is this not ever available? What will be the differences once I get all the upgrades done? I'm hoping the navigation will be somewhat useful. It's complete garbage in its current state. I figure I will do the MAPS upgrade when it comes out in July. Dealer and UConnect say I need the most recent versions to get the new Maps upgrade.
