Um; no magnetization involved, folks. The module "WIN" is known to be balky; usually internal contacts or mechanical wear. See repair/replacement vid's once you've checked your FOBIKs.
I had this happen to me too. I couldn’t find my second key fob, so I remote started my truck. Then I let it run for a bit, shut it off and then waited a little bit and the fob I had worked like nothing was ever wrong with it! Thanks for the video brother!
I can start it go to store... Turn it off walking walk out try to start won't.... Waited a little obviously stranded tried it and it worked . Raced home.. tried to start it 10 min later. Started so i turned it off. Tried again immediately and no start. Tried 5 times in a row. Nothing, waited 15 minutes again it started, turn it off tried again no start..
Just disconnect both the positive and negative battery cables and hold the CABLES together for 60 seconds, then reconnect to battery. The body control module sometimes need to be reset just like restarting a cell phone
Yep did the same thing to me.. and I think my phone and my keys were in the same pocket that I never do..but yes my spare fires it right up!! I was about to go buy a brand new battery starter and alternator thank God I watch this video
There is no "magnetization" involved. The fob has an RF transmitter chip that is read by the WIN ( Wireless ignition Node) chip reader when fob is inserted into the commonly called ignition switch. If both fobs don't work issue is likely with WIN module. if one fob works and the other doesn't likely then a issue with that fob. Some people are having success removing and disassembling the win module. flushing it out with electronics contact cleaner. I also sprayed in a silicon spray lubricant called Super Lube) in hopes it will. stop any tarnish from getting worse. That helped mine but still touchy with both fobs.
A temporary fix to start the car with a demagnetized key is to put the key in the ignition and just before turning the key on press and hold the unlock button as you turn to start and the truck will start. This is just to get you out of a bind as you have to do that every time you want to start the truck. Using the other spare key fob is the solution
Mine is doing this intermittently. Sometimes it starts right up and other times it works everything else but the truck won't start and it wouldn't remote start either. Then I'll try it again in a few minutes and it starts right up. And I just bought it used so I don't have another key. 😒
@@tthomestead2763 same issue Tracy. Replaced the starter and the battery in my key fob and my truck will click once and thats it. Just dropped off my truck at the dealer this morning. I mentioned it possibly being the ignition switch so hopefully that fixes it. So frustrating. This is the THIRD time its been at the dealership for this intermittent no start issue. And of course it always starts right up when its in the shop so they say they cant duplicate the issue, even when I show them video of the truck not starting when I turn the key over and over. Ram blows. When this gets fixed im getting rid of this truck.
@@littlejohn6694 I’m having that issue as well on my 13’ 1500. Today it said “wrong key”. So I had a buddy drive me home to grab my spare and that worked. But this has happened a few times before. But I always get the “key in ignition” after I pull the key out. I end up having to put the key back in and pull it out, sometimes 4-5 times before that turns off. And my remote start stopped working at that the same time this started. It all started when I jump started a buddies work van after he left the lights on. I hope I didn’t mess up my computer…
@@mminniear984 truck is literally in the shop as we speak and has been for the past week as they have been trying to duplicate the no start. Its an intermittent problem so of course it starts up fine when they have it. Its always at the most inconvenient times that it DOESN’T start. The service advisor told me today they replaced the Transmission Valve Body. Why on earth would a valve body cause the truck not to start? Please help mechanics!!!!!!!!
I had a similar situation just happen. I have a 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel. Out of the blue it wouldn’t start/crank. Had power to all the dash gauges and screen. After researching and testing things I was still left shaking my head. A friend of mine said try moving the steering wheel. So I hop in the truck and use the lever that adjusts the steering wheel up and down. I lowered the steering wheel all the way down and put the key(fob) in and it started right away.🤷🏻♂️ was it a fluke? I don’t know, I’m going to try it again in a few hours. But it started and it wouldn’t before I did that.
How do you magnatize the key?? I replaced the battery in my fob but my truck wont start. When I turn the key it clicks once but wont start. The lights and instrument panel will light up as well as my radio, but no start. Thanks
Guess you gotta replace the key fob. Both of mine are acting up, so not sure if my problem is the fobs or the ignition. Thought maybe my clutch switch (G56 manual) may have been going out at first. If I jiggle the key when it doesn't want to start it then starts.
Mind does this intermittently it will work for a while then not. If I mess with it I can get it to work eventually but it will do it again. Its pretty annoying to say the least.
@@baisnipescyr1539 on newer Rams with push button start. The key fob battery can be dead. But you can hold the key fob up to the start button and start the car. Can I do that with a 2014 ram with the insert fob
My dog ate my key but it still locked and unlocked my truck. So I ordered a key fob shell on line and put the board in the new shell. Truck won’t start. The board must be damaged.
@@toolazy6893 I finally figured it out. I was trying to disable it with a key fob that the panic button was broken on. On my RAM you have to use the unlock button in conjunction with the panic button to turn off the lock horn honk feature, which I hate. Thanks for info too!
JustMe Don'tKnowDoYou , thé dealer told me that I needed a whole new key because they could not te program it. However if you visit one of the independent key fob programmers they can in most cases retrieve and reconnect the signal between both the truck and the fob. Hope this helps
