Thanks Mike that looked like a lot of work. Since many of these boards are polypropylene I wonder how successful a weld would be if the board is out of warranty? Thanks. You looked like you were breathing as hard as I do when I get my truck stuck in my garden. I put so many wood chips that if the soil is moist it can be like mud ergo why these traction boards are so much more attractive than my strapped on 2 x 4 on each rear wheel.
Thank you for the great and honest review. Much appreciated. I have a small SUV and might need these in case I get stuck. I hunt so I go down forest roads occasionally that can get pretty bad. Thanks again
i didn't want to get the $350 actiontrax and i didn't want to get the $50 chinatrax so i settled for the $100 rough country traction board with a lifetime warranty. hopefully i never have to test the warranty out but maybe i should try them on purpose like you did just in case.
That is me in my 97 Cummins 2WD. I've literally had it stuck 4 times. Next one will be 4WD. Sure is nice to do a test like this, but then be able to hit that nice little "shift on the fly" button!
I was wheeling last winter and some guys in our group had these, they got stuck and tried them. They launched those things, buried them, broke them...it didn’t go well for those guys😂
I'm still not sure they are worth the room that they take up in the bed of the truck. I'm going to try to mount them to the ceiling of the cap some how.
@@xmldigitz1 yes. and when one gets stuck not on purpose, one would lower their tire pressure to help. Those super solid tires are not going to grab anything at all with how un-aggressive that tread pattern is. There's literally nothing on the tire that will grab the nubs on those traction boards. So you would have to air down to let the tire conform to them to actually work properly. If you had mud tires, or tires with more aggressive lug spacing, they would grab the traction board nubs a LOT better. It's not about what tools you have, it's about using them properly. Highway tires and tame all terrain tires are useless in situations like this at street pressure. You need to air them down.
Don’t need to talk down Tacoma by calling it “teeny tiny” hence some response from some viewers. You could have said lighter trucks might not have gotten stuck.
Hey Mike , you slipped a little bit on your editing. When you walk around the back of the truck, your license plate is seen clearly. I know you like your anonymity, might want to pixelate that out.
@@marcusaurelius652 Mike goes to great lengths to avoid putting personal details on youtube . He likes to maintain his privacy thus I pointed out that he did not Pineland his license plates. That's what he usually does. 🙂
I'm glad you got some entertainment out of if. I have heavy duty v bar chains in my truck at all times. This was just test out the traction boards in snow. 🍺
