Got a Decked for a Sierra quite a few years ago & loved its simplicity & functionality. Sold her last year & started looking at getting into overlanding due to the huge crowds & difficulty getting into parks during a cross country trip. Just picked up our PW last month & plan to get another decked due to a good experience before. We’ll be building her up slowly & I’m grateful for your channel & content for sharing your experiences. I was becoming intrigued by your extruded aluminum build, I kinda wanted it myself. I’m older, my wife doesn’t go as much as she used to, and the kids are all grown. I waited for the longest time to get Decked T Tracks, as they were sold out. I bought some off Amazon, and had to fight through what hardware fits the tracks. Finally, I ended up emailing them, but still got kind of vague particulars; “We use 1” screws”. I at last put my Iceco slide and dual zone on top of that, and my jack is mounted behind it for now. Check out Arkansas Off-road, he chopped his up, made me want to cry, but he has a nice setup; he also has air chucks on both side doors of his camper. Oh yeah, just got done with some weather stripping around the tailgate for dust intrusion. My other thoughts were to build, but weight wise you probably come out the same or heavier, up to you.
Nice video. I have been eyeing the Decked system for a while now. On the compressor mount, Desert Does It, makes a mount for the RAM that goes under the passenger seat. I know it is in the cab, but it is an option.
Got a question. If you are doing mostly overlanding and not anything extreme, at what point do you need to change the suspension? And at what weight? Let's say you have roof top tent, winch, and two traction boards. I am thinking about getting used GX460. Thanks ~
In a GX460 you wont really need to change the suspension at all if you're just overlanding. You may want to add spring spacers to the rear if you start to notice a sag due to additional weight from gear. Outside of that you really shouldn't have to change anything until something fails. Don't get caught up in the hype of the newest thing or vehicle mod, it's not worth the money for most people.
After I saw the quick screen grab in the beginning of the mountainbikes on a bed slide… do you have any videos with more details on that? Im trying to plan my build out in the bed and was curious about how it worked out for you.
You absolutely could do that if you wanted to. It comes a part pretty easy and the one side would stay stationary because of the hooks that hold it to the bed. It may bounce around a little bit, but it’s doable.
@@roamingwithjoshjust to double check, is that all the way in passed the seal and window? it's about 4 inches higher inside the camper then the window/ door seal? Thank you! These cages are all like 26" for my size dog so the extra inch would be real helpful lol..
