Don't forget you're running 3.92 gears on the Ram and 3.23 on the GMC. That will make the difference in fuel economy (and tow capacity). I had a Ram with 3.92s and just recently bought one with the 3.21 gearing, both running the 5.7. Noticed a big difference in fuel mileage and I didn't need the huge tow capacity (still does 8000 lbs. though). A proper fuel mileage comparison should have been with a RAM that had the 3.21 in my opinion. I drove a new GMC before I bought the most recent RAM and I still preferred the RAM interior, but that will be more personal preference I think.

Gm adjust's the MPG for the sticker for each trim truck. The MPG for a LT Trail Boss is different for a LT Z71. I wish all manufacturers did this.

Hard pass on both. $85k to $93k is insane. You would need to knock $40k off the price for these things to be affordable for the average buyer. Pickup trucks are becoming a luxury game. At that price point, it's boycott time. You could pretty much rebuild an older truck from the ground up for that kind of money. New engine, new transmission, upholstery, custom cameras and audio. Everything. Buy used, fix it. Great review gents, complete, informative, and entertaining. Depressing as all hell on the prices, but good video.

Pricing on trucks is nuts no doubt, but $40k lower is foolish. Sticker price of $75k on the GMC, $65-70 on the Ram, is realistic. Ram is back to advertising $10,000 off and 2% financing. And if you don’t want a luxury truck don’t buy one lol. A current $60,000 Canadian truck should be more like low 50s, and it’ll have cloth.

Interior was absolutely horrible. Even the instrument cluster was literally filling up with dust between the gauges and the faceplate. The engine (5.3L direct injection pos) was garbage. Ran horrible, idled terrible, bad gas mileage. It cost me a small fortune to trade it in on a 2014 Tundra Platinum w/ 100k mi. Its 10x the truck, easily. GMC but isnt that the one u should pick being about $10k more in price?? The question is; is the at4 worth $10k more with cylinder deactivation which isnt the most sought-after feature honestly. I would like to see a max payload test and max tow test on both along with a good deep snow/mud test to see if the front locker is really a big advantage. On paper it is but in the real world? Which one rides better under that max payload and max towing scenario? Im probably gonna bet on the ram in that case but i think it will give a better answer to which one is really worth its price tag. I then owned a 2019 Ram Big Horn 4x4 5.7 non-etorque and put on 25k miles averaging 16.3 mpg with 20” wheels and 3.92 gears. I kept track of the mileage and fuel consumption in a spreadsheet along with the trip computer mpg. The computer in both trucks was off by 0.5-1.0 mpg on average and made both look better than they really were overall.

The AT4 would be a better comparison vs the Rebel. Neither Ram nor Ford has an AT4X competitor and GM doesn't have a TRX/Raptor competitor, so it's really like apples and oranges trying to compare models when an equivalent doesn't exist. If you add the 6.2L engine and a custom exhaust to a loaded out AT4, then you would be almost exact on pricing with a loaded Rebel GT (maybe even cheaper for the Rebel). The design of the AT4X would be more equal to an offroad version of the Ram 1500 Limited if that existed. The rebel is nice, but it's not at the same level of styling as the Ram 1500 Limited. The AT4X is similar in style and build as the Denali Ultimate, and the Ram 1500 Limited can go to toe to toe against the Denali Ultimate, but there is a significant price premium for the Denali Ultimate over the Limited, so that's a significant consideration.

My 2021 Tundra SR5 which is lifted with after market tires from the dealership is more than $30K cheaper than the GMC and $26k cheaper than the Ram. Considering 99% of buyers aren't going to be rock climbing, that is a lot of money to pay for "tech".

Just like your lift kit the prices are completely unnecessary but people still get them and say 3 years later while looking around all stunned like in their driveway they suddenly realize ohhh fuck boye I screwed up.

Hey guys I'm a big GMC Chevy fan and I bet if you had the 5.3 l it would have done 20MPG or better hopefully you do a test on the new 3.0 Duarmax people are saying 25 to 30 MPG God-bless you guys loved the videos
@rodjbosch

The 5.3L is a complete turd. Owned it,a 6.2L and several Ecoboosts. It's notin the same world.....towing ,hauling,acceleration....blah blah My POS 6.2L also required premium gas so what you are putting into gas tank should be factored into mpg. Another thing....the 6.2L stock sounds like shit....literally you hear more engine noise than anything.

As mentioned in this thread, the gearing is not the same. 3.21 vs 3.92. 3.21 will always get better MPG. So your MPG part of the comparison is throwaway. Since MPG was weighted heavily in this (comparison) you guys screwed the pooch by comparing apples to oranges. You also left off a major part of the comparison that many would be particularly interested in, and that is towing. you should have made the same run towing, say, 3500lbs. Now that I would be interested in. Lets see how that 3.21 holds up. Just saying.

You can blame the rough ride on the Ram on the 10 ply duratracs, every other half ton comes with a lower ply rating than the rams. Running a 35psi tire vs a 55psi tire is a huge difference
