Last Friday, February 16, we had the chance to witness "Rama, Hari", a collaborative masterpiece by National Artists Alice Reyes, Ryan Cayabyab, Bienvenido Lumbera, Salvador Bernal, and Rolando Tinio. Following the story of the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, the local musical featured Indian heritage and culture, portrayed in its rich visuals and by the actors' dancing and vocal prowess.
During the opening night, we had the opportunity to talk and take photos with National Artist Alice Reyes, National Artist Ryan Cayabyab (who was seated only an aisle and a few seats next to us), Mr. Toma Cayabyab (who conducted the live music by The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth), Arman Ferrer (who sang as Rama), Poppert Bernadas (who sang as Ravana), and Monica Gana (who danced as Sita). It was a truly memorable experience and worth all the brisk walking and transportation endured from General Trias to Makati-all thanks to the Manila Metropolitan Theater who invited us to the show's opening night.
