The video begins first with suffering of a black imprisoned mother and daughter (refugee crisis) and than six men (Rammstein) in the front yard with "modified National Socialists" salute. They are wearing white polo shirts, over which gray sweater vests with large checks are worn. They mow the lawns in their front yards, grill cheese crackers and enjoy the gossip from the weekend newspaper. But after just a few seconds, the bourgeois garden world is torn down and bathed in black, white and red light. Black, white and red are the colors of the German Reich flag, which Neo-Nazis and Reich citizens like to wear. It is no coincidence that Rammstein chose this lighting. Eventually, barbed wire is rolled out, walls are erected, and surveillance cameras are installed to shadow the others. Horrific cheerleaders even deliver machine guns for money, which are ultimately aimed at the screens, opening up a black hole and engulfing the group. Lindemann can also be seen as a mental patient at the lectern.Because the harmless bourgeois in the song are actually lousy racists who soon have built a wall and barbed wire around their front yard and then reach for the machine gun. For fear of the black man. But it won't reveal who the black man is. Racism criticism is the obvious interpretation, but there are also other interpretations, as always with Rammstein. If there is enough fear involved, also fueled by lies on social media, the philistine becomes a monster and, in the worst case, takes up arms. The fact that the band is making a statement on racist, xenophobic views is clear given the line of text "Who's afraid of the black man" and the people cooped up in barbed wire at the beginning and end of the video. In the end, the group peacefully munches the much-discussed chocolate kiss while watching the suffering of the imprisoned mother and daughter on television (refugee crisis in Europeand strengthening the right-wing extremists who spread their lies with social media (for example Trump in the US, new right wing party in Germany AFD and so on). The german terms Negerkuss ("Negro kiss") and Mohrenkopf (=chocolate marshmallow = a kind of small chocolate-covered cake filled with foamy sugar) have been largely avoided in recent times because of the racist connotations of the terms Negro and Mohr in official german parlance. However, some of the designations are still used by the manufacturing companies.
@@DashyAndDadReacts As i was around 15 years we watched Michael Moores "Bowling for Columbine" they got the same Massages over the lyrics and pictures: fear, guns, fences ore gated communitys, media and well the "black men"
@@DashyAndDadReacts thx wish you the best and stick to your father when it get´s to the good old guitar music like ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KaOC9danxNo.html
The young girl is right. With Rammstein it is worth turning on the subtitles. The lyrics by Rammstein are also very important to understand. Sometimes the parents are really "annoying" and should let the younger ones do their thing 🙂
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the Rammstien fans! And sharing the passion we also feel with the band! You are all fire! Which is German for FRIER! I think 😅I apologise! We love you Germany! 🇩🇪 p.s definitely not a frying pan 😹
Hi! Please consider doing deep dive videos where you just watch performances with lyrics, those are some of the best reaction videos for us R+ fans. I would suggest Lindemann but you might not be comfortable with that being a dad/daughter duo and please ignore anyone who says watch Buch Dich live, just skip it. Trust me lol. Love you guys, hope you do dig into Till's amazing lyrical poetry, it will blow your mind.
@@chelleb3055 hi Chelleb, thanks for your comment. Do you mean deep dive as in watching the videos or a specific channel to react from? Love till . Also seen a tribute band called Rammlied . Which you’d guys would also love! Go check them out when you can! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 many thanks Rock on! 🤘
@@DashyAndDadReacts How good are some of these cover bands too though?! The deep dive could be done by just looking up lyric only videos (kind of boring) or using Educated Marine's videos with english subtitles already put up for you. Till is an INCREDIBLE poet! I highly recommend Klavier and Heirate Mich to start with. Pretty dark stuff but oh so brilliant.
And there it is, the funniest Rammstein reaction. Hands down. :D How I see their video: The media and politicians paint the World black and white, but it is colorful. The Red is the color of danger/a threat, that is shown going from the microphone the crazy leader (Till in a straitjacket) into the TVs of the people, who are sucked into the wrong depiction of the World on the TV. The Red is also visible in Till's eyes (Feuer), and right before the end of the song (not the video) when he's out of the straitjacket, the entire screen is Red as he screams. The fearmongering of the politicians with the help of their cheerleaders and by TV leads to the open/welcoming society to build walls, to weaponize the people, to watch eachother, because the threat is not coming from the outside anymore, but they see their neighbors as the enemies. And in the end switch off, go outside, enjoy the beautiful colorful world. Looking forward to more funny stuff from you! Political, most definitely, but not towards any specific political parties. Fear is the easiest way to control people and is practiced throughout the world by governments in power.
The subtitles are a literal translation and meaning is lost sometimes. The real translation of Der Schwarze Mann (the black man literal translation) the closest English translation is The Bogeyman. Remember Germanic countries don't believe in demons for them its Black (or dark) Fairies etc. Saying that there is the double meaning in this song that is deliberate because both causes "Angst" (English-Fear) and they are showing how it spreads and how ridiculous it is and how it can cause suffering.
Understanding the lyrics definitely increases the depth of their videos. The auto translated ones are rubbish though, but I’d recommend Educated Marine’s RU-vid channel for well translated lyrics to their songs. Rammstein never explain their lyrics, but the way I see it is that it’s very much a message about how through media and social media we are fed a steady diet of fear of the other, fear of the bogey man. The start and end with the refugees surrounded by barbed wire seems like a clear reference to how the refugee crisis a few years ago was exploited by the same fear mongerers. And the black and white colours with red wires symbolising the fear being fed to us only ended when till destroyed the tv, metaphorically turned off the media, when colours returned.
Great reaction to another great video from Rammstein. 👍👍👍👍 But i had also a lot of fun about your remarks to the german language. Our language ist not easy to learn, believe me, not even for us germans. 😆😆😆 I like Schmetterling also. To Rammstein, their concert live in Paris from 2017 is absolutely recommendable. 👍👍👍👍👍 Best wishes, Michael
Hi Dashy & Dad after listen to your Reaction i found 5 Albums and brought them so have plenty to listen to in the near future and updated some other Artists OMD, Gary Numan/ Tubeway Army and King and Some Albums of Traffic 7 Echo & The Bunnymen Etc. Chris Tredwell Birmingham UK
14:07 Simba: "keep me outta this! Im done with Rammstein since I saw them with subtitles for the first time... It was hard enough to learn that "Pussy" is not actually that "lets celebrate cats -thing" I was expecting."
Guten Tag = good day = stressed differently, only native speakers can use this in detailed perfection (mostly about 60 or or university degree) ... depending on the face and situation towards you. Use Hello = Hallo, that understand all correct. Rammstein often uses a mix of literary language and typical language. This can have several meanings (old and new)... But it shows exactly the band's fine spirit of free thinking across different political systems or human conditions ;-)
For future reference use the channel of "EducatedMarine" for Rammstein official music videos with English subtitles for you and the channel of "Bucksttabu" for many live performances including their MSG and Völkerball shows with English cc
@@DashyAndDadReacts well the translations by the people I mentioned are are accurate and it helps add a lot more to the songs. Many of their songs have deep poetic lyrics/meanings or often a story to them which itd help to know. Especially on the official music videos as they often tie in with the lyrics to make the video make more sense. This video is a perfect example of that
@@wildwine6400 that’s true XD however we worry the translations is political/controversial and with these modern times you know exactly what you have to be careful with cx and I don’t want to give anyone the wrong ideas. Haha
@@DashyAndDadReacts yeah i understand. It doesnt mean literally "a black man" though, it means boogieman. So it refers to anything/anyone that people are scared of really. They have many songs about controversial things
So Listen to some other succesful German Rock Bands... Try:Broilers-meine Familie,, /Kraftklub - Am Ende,, /Die toten Hosen - Alle sagen das,, /NullPositiv - wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer.. 🤘🎸😁Enjoy with a german 🍻(a Coke for the girl...) greedings from north germany
Hey, your reaction is great. I come from Germany. Please react the videos from Zeit Stein um Stein Mein Herz brennt Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen And please read the epic lyrics from all Rammstein songs. bye bye smile
A childish useless something . But sure not a funny nice reaction . More a derision of the german language . And for me it sounds ironical , if they say so often : " i like Rammstein ... I really do !?"
