@@pietergoosen3665 Yes, even though that would be the most appropriate one. I limited it to one Rammstein song. It was a pretty wide mix from Nights in White Satin to Engel (showing she wasn't stuck in her time like most people). My sister and I got a giggle out of it. Her siblings had no idea how cool their outwardly shy and conservative big sister was, that is for sure!
This is what it's all about. Your mother loved Engel and playing it at her funeral was a way of paying tribute to her in a personal way. It's those details about people that often get overlooked, but good for you and your sister for making sure that it happened. Rammstein has a funny way of transcending generations. It was many, many years ago that a 60 yr old carpenter I met on a jobsite out of town turned me on to them, that guy absolutely loved them. I've been a die hard fan ever since.
Brilliant video and song. Here is my though about it, specially the thing around the children The children portraits the angels, the 'Engel' which the song is about. We see children as pure, so this is most probably why they those children to portray the angels. No one notices the children all lock up in a cage, everybody is so caught up in what is happening around them. I think that the angels feels trapped in a cage because no one can see them and therefor nobody believe that they exist. I also think that the lyrical eye chooses not to be an angel when he dies as he do not want to trapped in a cage, he would still want to futher indulce himself in things not seen fit by normal standards. This is the main theme of the song
They play the song on their present tour, but they play the piano version from the album "Klavier" and sing it together with the whole audience. You will get chills... 😉
If you watch the official making of this video, you will see where their minds were at when shooting this. Especially, poor Flake! That man was a wreak! One of my all time favourites from Rammstein! Thanks for reacting to this 😁
David Lynch (the producer behind "Lost Highway", where 2 Rammstein Songs where featured) alludes to "Engel" in the third season of his series Twin Peaks. In episode 7 he whistles the opening phrase of the song in his role as Gordon Cole. The song is also part of the soundtrack of the movie "Big Nothing" from 2006. And it is part of the home game entry music of a german football/soccer team.
David Lynch is actually one of the main reasons why Rammstein got so famous so quickly. The asked him wether he wanted to direct their first music video. He said no but he was so impressed by some of the tracks that he constantly played them on the set of Lost Highway to set the mood and obviously ended up using them in the film which presented Rammstein to a huge international audience.
Also my first discovery back then on MTV. They got my attention because of the recreated snake dance scene from the movie "From Dusk till Dawn". I liked the music to it as well. Have been listening to Rammstein ever since.
I just wonder, in the video Richard is portait as the singer, he plays Till's part (Ollie might also be the one playing Till's part). I wonder if that was intentionaly done, I wonder if Richard way back then already knew he wanted to be the lead singer in his own band, and this was just a means to play that part for a while. Btw, I love Richard's band, Emigrate, only found out a few weeks ago he have a sideline band in New York and that he is actually the lead singer of the band
FYI: The version of Engel on the recent tour cycle has been very different. Don't know if they'll do it like that in the US, but it's a piano version, with all the members of the band singing the song together.
First of all: Thank you for reacting to this MV version and not to the live version in Madison Square Garden! -- Secondly: yes, From Dust to Dawn ;-)) Rammstein are big fans of David Lynch and I think are even personally acquainted. -- The MV was shot in a club in the port of Hamburg, Germany. -- The angel kids sit in a cage, because this is what the song is about: the life of an Engel, a former good and obedient human, is lonely, isolated, full of fear and not at all glamorous. -- Fun fact: There is a making-of video and they tell that a big problem were the contact lenses of the snake woman which permanently got out of place -)) -- you see: a lot of reasons to prefer the MV to the live version ;-))
Hey Mat&Chels. I was on the Rammstein-Show yesterday in Hamburg/Germany. It was fucking AAAAWWWWEESOME !!!! I noticed that Rammstein comes in the USA with the huuuge Stage! Greetings froh Germany 🇩🇪🤘👍
the american release that this was on translates the hook into.. god dman not an angel when i die. it was filmed in hamburg at a place called prinzebar..
Such a classic one!!! There's a version of this song done by Scala and Kolacny brothers, it's a cool cover!!! And could you please react to Rammstein's Hallelujah live at Highfield festival 2016 🙏🏻👍🏻
The current tour uses an orchestral piano remix of this song by the Scala & Kolacny Brothers instead. It is really good. The people behind the remix have a pro live recording of it on their RU-vid. Ofcourse in the live Rammstein version, Rammstein replace the choir. You need check it out. Link in reply below (if itll let me).Alternatively search Scala & Kolacny Brothers -Engel (Rammstein) . The current recordings from the Rammstein tour are not very good quality
Hate it! Madison Square Gardens live version is the best even better than the official studio version here. The current live version did absolutely nothing for me.
Fun fact: the little girl in the cage is Richards daughter Khira Li. Fun fact number two: Khira Li’s last name is Lindemann because Richard married Till’s ex-wife. 😵💫😂
I'm very hit and miss with Rammstein, some of their stuff I love, some I can't stand, but, this tune is a certified banger, I personally prefer their older stuff, from their first 2-3 albums, but even after them, they've released some epic tunes, you should check out the song Rammstein by them, that was the first tune I ever heard by them and it's a CHOOOOON
I think it's only appropiate to play the music the person listened to its entire live - no matter what it is. also have already put together a CD with songs I wnat to be played at my funeral - there will be songs by Johnny Cash and of Rammstein - and I'm sure my family will follow my wishes.
So entstand u.a. der Bezirk KreuzBERG-FriedrichsHAIN.
pls react to ramm4 from Hellfest, waidmanns heil from Madison squaregarden, Video from Ausländer and Diamant live -i think it was also from Hellfest... all so f.... great 😬😬🥰🥰
