Rammstein "LINKS 234" First Time Reaction. Always so good.

They don't sugar coat and I appreciate the hell out of that as someone who also writes that way. They have been a go to band for inspiration for me as a song writer for years.

The song is a reply to the critics who have tried to push Rammstein into the "Right Scene" this was because of the video which used excerpts from the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, this film was made by Hitler's favourite Leni Riefenstahl. The video ist called "Stripped", a sond from Depeche Mode.

Yes they said they hold a mirror up to the world and tell the truth. And sometimes people don't like that.

fed up with the media accusing them of been right wing, Rammstein came out with ''Links 2,3, 4'' to show their on the left when it came to politics using the military marching step of leading with the left boot..and still played live today

Great Song! 👍 Here in Germany they are hated by the do-gooders, the Moralists, the uptight leftists, I am not all that and I love Rammstein and their Music! Great Lyrics and a great Show - all that and much more is Rammstein! A Line from the Song "Rosenrot" says a lot about Rammstein and their efforts to deal with the human Soul and human Weaknesses. "You have to dig deep Wells if you want clear Water"

This is in response to Rammstein being accused of leaning to the "right" since they are from East Germany

Again for Rammstein, the lyrics are simple but tricky. Background: Rammstein was often wrongly accused of being a right-wing band (Nazi band). This song is their answer. The chorus "Links 2 3 4" (left 2 3 4) comes from military marching. There is a command "Im Gleichschritt Marsch" (March in step) and every soldier starts with his left foot. To ensure all are in sync, the seargent (or who ever leads that formation) shouts "Links 2 3 4", one word for every step (at least a couple of times after started). So Rammstein choose a military phrase. Military in Germany is oftenly associated to right-wing kind of thinking. In the calm part of the lyrics, Till questions common German expressions related to hearts (e.g.: Can hearts break? Can a heart be out of stone?). And before the main chorus starts, Till sings "Sie wollen mein Herz am rechten Fleck, doch seh ich dann nach unten weg, dann schlägt es links." (They want my heart in the right place (normal meaning of "right place" is "correct place"), but when I look down it's beating left (second meaning of "heart beating left" is "left minded"/"open minded"). Then starts the military phrase. So they are playing with right-wing aestetics while making a left-wing statement.

MSQ is always a great source of live performances ( management told Richard they wouldn't sell in the US... Sold out in under 25 minutes!) but for live du hast Paris is the best and if you ever dare to try buch dich then I like the montreal gig - not professionally shot but awesome performance. Another wonderful thing for a reactor is that you can watch official, live and even making of and come away with something fresh and new. Great reaction as always
