It's a true story happened in Germany: Armin Meiwes born 1961 is a German former computer repair technician who received international attention for murdering and eating a voluntary victim in 2001, whom he had found via the Internet. After Meiwes and the victim jointly attempted to eat the victim's severed penis, Meiwes murdered his victim and proceeded to eat a large amount of his flesh. He was arrested in December 2002. In January 2004, Meiwes was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years and six months in prison. In a retrial in May 2006, he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Because of his acts, Meiwes is also known as the Rotenburg Cannibal or Der Metzgermeister (The Master Butcher)
Sorry to jump in here but yes, he did try to use Rammstein because, according to him, they hadn't asked his permission to write about the crime and he felt they were misusing his personal story. The case was thrown out I believe. He did become a vegetarian in prison as well.

Two notes on this: 1) "Mein Teil" can be used for "My penis" in German -> that's the part where they started eating on... 2) "You are what you eat" is a slogan of the German health awareness movement. It propagates eating healthy things to be healthy. Of course this gets another ambiguity in context of cannibalism 🙂 Note on your comment: If you want a true reminder of "Silence of the lambs" then watch the official video of Rammstein's "Dicke Titten". That's what they do. Inspired by shocking real events and writing songs about it. In this case with a lot of humor. Is it cabaret? Is it Theatre? Is it a movie? Is it a concert? No, it is Rammstein! Love it. They truly are unique!!! You should see them live one beautiful day! Highly recommended.

You should watch Bucksttabu’s video that he put together for Rammstein’s song Los, it’s all about their history and has tons of pictures and clips of them from pre-Rammstein to the time he made it
TY again for the reaction! 🔥 ....Some people have a hard time with some of their songs ( name a random taboo subject and the odds are they've made a song about it) ... personally I think shining a light on subjects that are hard to talk about ...especially the masterful way Rammstein does it..... is important ... it helps people confront things they need to, talk about things that should not be held secret, helps people release feelings (all kinds), helps people cope with past trauma, feel loved... and more.... Nothing... no "dark" subject has ever solved itself ...or stopped existing because people generally don't want to talk/think/whatever about it... in my experience that only escalates and strengthens the dark 🖤 ..But that isn't the experience for many people and that's just as valid ❤ ...just wanted to put it out there...Peace & Love 🤘💜
I love how when people react to Mein Teil they are always oh poor Flake when if I am not mistaken I believe it was his idea to be in the pot in the first place because he gets bored and wants something to do other than just standing at his key boards which is also why he has the treadmill he walks on.
This never gets old. I saw them live yesterday in Belgium and they now have a "fire cannon" the size of an artillery mortar. The flame is as big as the full lenght of the stage!
